... if it wasn't for those pesky kids!

I can only assume that my Parkruns benefit from me spending all night drinking tea, coffee and other caffeinated drinks. It's the only explanation I can think of for being able to run so well after working nightshift.

Another Parkrun PB today, hitting 22.02 which is absolutely absurd. I'm extatic, especially considering I was working all night, so ran those 5000m on zero sleep, but I'm also a little gutted about those pesky 2seconds. I really want to get my time under 22mins (I'm working towards sub 20) so to be just 2seconds short is frustrating.

I blame the 10year old who cut me up!

On the final 1km a young lad caught up and started to overtake me. My competitive nature hates being overtaken that close to the end so I dug in and extended my stride. We ran side by side for a minute or so but just as we caught up with the group just in front, the sneaky kid cut right across me and left me boxed in, stumbling to shorten my stride so as not to crash into everyone and losing my rythym which resulted in me watching him disappear ahead. Clearly this lad has learnt some competitive running tactics, which I think lost me those vital 2seconds!

In the words of every Scooby-Doo villian... "I'd have hit my goal if it wasn't for those pesky kids"

Nippy little things, those kids! πŸ˜€ Never mind, still an amazing time - I suspect you will soon reach that sub 22 goal. Well doneπŸ™‚

I had a little guy running in a Spider-Man outfit at parkrun today. I told him he was a hero as he was doing so well and he must have liked that because he ran alongside me for a while and then went ahead with Dad, also in a cape in tow. Then dad had to stop to do his laces up so reluctantly little lad had to wait. I managed to stay ahead after that. Phew.

Well done on your excelllent time after night Shift.

Lol, used to love Scooby-Doo many years ago....shame about the lad but honestly, amazing job getting a PB after working a night shift!

I'm sure it won't be long before you gain those extra couple of seconds πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ‘
