There you are then Flick, just keep running and who knows how many half or full marathons you could run, I hope you are keeping well and running of course.

Hi Alan, I'm not sure I'm up to her abilities. I'm running but not very far as still recovering

That is the main thing, to enjoy your runs, irrespective of what the distance is.

I have the London winter run mid February so I need to get fit again!

Before I went to a Coffee Concert this morning I ran a 3K around a pond 3 times near to where I live, I wasn't too happy with my performance, OK it was just a short test run to make sure that my legs were in running order, 3K in 22 minutes, Alan I thought to myself 'I can do better than that', anyway just like you Flick I will need to get fit again when I resume running at parkrun, by the way the coffee and the chocolate rock cake I had after the concert were lovely, I will be at another Coffee Concert in two weeks.

We don’t need to be as fast as anyone though to do marathons Just as fast as ourselves.

“She runs a lot”. That’s about the size of it. I bet the sun always shines there though 😁

I don't think fast was necessarily the point of the article - i think it's encouraging to see people in their 70s running like this. I liked that she doesn't do cross training as I mostly don't - except the inevitable dog walks. I did enjoy swimming twice a week outdoors in the summer when HM training though

Gosh that’s amazing and quite inspiring. I cannot say that I feel 100% in love with the distances but it’s certainly getting a little easier. On week 2 of the marathon training and I’m quite comfortable at the moment. But it’s the over 13 miles which is still an unknown, so we shall see!! 😬😱🤪

in reply toCandyCool

I'm guessing the distance will come over the training period - though I haven't trained for a marathon so it's uncharted territory for me

Indeed my first. And as long as I don’t look at week 10, 11 etc it’s ok! 😬🤪
