I know it's ultimately my own decision, but just wanted to know other's point of view.
I started running 1+ year back, participated and finished 10k and Half Marathon.
Currently I am running 11KM+ every Saturday and Sunday. 7KM+ 3-4 times a week, rest 1-2 days (also depends on weather). My average pace is around 6.45 min/KM. In total i run approximately 40-45KM a week. (I ran 220+ km in a single month, leading up to my first half marathon, including HM and next day after HM).
My primary target to run full marathon is London 2021.
But now i am tempted to attempt Edinburgh 2020 (24th May) Full marathon.
Is 5 month enough to prepare for first full marathon, considering my current running routine/distance/pace?
What's your suggestions? Should i go for it or take more time to prepare?

I wish you the best of luck, this all sounds awesome. Given how you did 10K and HM within a year... I expect you can... but I donโt know, Iโm only at 10k currently. Enjoy!
Looks fine to me, you have a half marathon under your belt and are motivated. 5 months is more than enough time to prepare for a marathon, for example my current marathon plan is 16 weeks long. You could spend a bit of time this winter getting into a good strength and conditioning routine before embarking upon your marathon training.
I started running 2 years ago did a 10K and HM last year. Iโm nowhere near your regular distances still on 3x4 miles and 1x 6 miles a week. And at 13 minute miles! But Iโm doing London 2020. Everything I have read and been told is to just aim to get round. So Iโm walking 26.2 miles just to feel what the distance is like...and frightening myself to death!! ๐๐คช
Another vote to go for it with an excellent plan in hand. I started my training for London 2020 in November because I am a) slower than average, b) older than average, c) a bit more vulnerable than average due to being a cancer patient. I have run 10Ks and a HM, but I consider myself a novice runner. I think you have a good running base on which to build, time to spare in terms of plans and you are motivated - a great trio!
My aim is simply to finish London 2020 on the same day I start, raise shed loads of money for the oncology team who care for me and many others and to enjoy the day as much as I can. I think with support, realistic aims and a positive approach, we can achieve more than we ever imagined.
Looking forward to hearing about your decision and perhaps training/race experience. Good luck.
Go for it! At 63, and only 18 months since I started running, I'm aiming for the Belfast Marathon in May. I'm also a T1 diabetic which will throw up it's own challenges eeek!
I used the Galloway method for the HM, which is excellent. So, I'm going to use it for the marathon jeffgalloway.com/training/m...
Agree with everyone else, sounds like you've got this in the bag. Edinburgh is lovely and flat too, I've not done the full oneโjust the halfโbut I think it's a great first one to try. Also SNAP we are the same age ๐
