Happy New Year everyone. I did my first run of the year yesterday and swam for the first time this year today. I am determined to conquer the marathon distance in October at York.
I have a technical question. I have a Polar m430 watch which for some reason showed an average pace of 11+min miles which I am sure isn't right. It is set up with the correct weight and height so mystified. I thought gps watches would be more accurate than relying on Strava alone.

Just looked at my watch and my Polar account and it's in KM. Gutted as thought I had done 5K. Is it because my weight and height is in imperial ie kgs and cm's? I have added a screenshot of my Polar account to my post.
Kg and cm are metric, not Imperial, so yes that sounds likely, because Kms are also a metric measurement. I don't have a Polar watch, but there will be a setting somewhere to switch it over to Imperial, or probably have a mixture of the two if that's what you want to do. I know Hidden has a Polar, so she may be able to help!
Doh. Have changed my weight and height to imperial ie lbs for weight and feet and inches for height. That is a bit annoying as I work in miles but did not think that the units height and weight were in would result in my distance being in the same unit of measurement. They should be separate
I didn't think it would so possible that it was on km but I only ever do miles. Yes as I checked it on Polar and on the watch. When it's charged will check it is on miles per minute not km per minute
Thanks think the first figure sounds better lol. I can see why people train in kms however with the exception of 5K, 10K, 1/2 marathon and marathon I am rubbish at converting kilometers to miles so prefer to work in miles per minute although I am tempted to change
Tech stuff defeats me and does my head in much of the time. I hope you can sort it out and get on with thinking about the run without distractions, unless they're of the pleasant variety
I was talking to a lass at WW class on Friday and she's doing the York marathon.
