I went for a gentle 5k taper yesterday and was planning a short jog tomorrow before GSR on Sunday. However, when I was walking the dog yesterday, I bumped into a couple of dog walkers and got chatting about running (as you do πŸ˜‚) because I’d seen her out for a run earlier in the week. I discovered that they have started a running group in our village - meet Monday and Thursday evenings at the church for approx 5k. Well, it was a nice evening, so I couldn’t resist. Only 3 of us and 5.4k at an average 6:18 (first k was 6:02 😳), which was 30 secs per km faster than yesterday. Good job I warmed up going from home to the church! Even then my new RB Genna kept stopping to wait for me and Ian πŸ˜‚ It’ll be good for me I’m sure. Now for 2 rest days!

How great Sandie. That sounds like a nice village group. My tapering run was 15 minutes between torrential downpours. Enjoy those rest days. See you Saturday.

This running group sounds like it’ll make you even faster Sandie! What fun. πŸ‘πŸ‘

See you on Saturday. I’m off for a tiny taper run tomorrow morning. πŸ˜€

I know. I’ve actually known them for quite a while, but running has never cropped up before - classic cars, yes, because they also have a couple of old Triumphs and 2nd homes, as they have a place in Spain!

That sounds brilliant. Too fast for me though, I couldn't keep that pace up over 5k unless it was mostly downhill!

It was a bit fast but good to have a bit of a push!

I think that’s what I need. I ought to try music too. I prefer the sounds of nature, but I’ve been told music helps you pick up pace. That will be Spencer Davis Keep On Running, on repeat, then πŸ˜‚

You can find some army chants that help too :D That way you can imagine those men in uniform you used to see crossing the road :p

Reminds me of the beginning of An Officer and a Gentleman. They do slow run training too!

It really depends. I’ve got a couple of playlists on Spotify which are at 155bpm, but, to be honest, it’s not the sort of music I would choose to listen to. Too modern πŸ™„

That sounds great, I'm sure it will be a help to keep up the running over the dark evenings

That’s what I thought and already I’m thinking of other neighbours who I know do or have run in the past, to try to persuade them to come!

I don’t think it will be a big group, but it will be nice to have some others around, especially running at night!
