New On Cloudflyers to replace my clapped out oldest ones. I’m glad they’ve gone back to the longer laces. Note space blanket to put round me after the race. Bottle will contain Tailwind and it’s side pocket will have the nak’d bars. I will wear an old purple fleece, cut open down the front, and a transparent bin liner to discard at the start, as the forecast is wet and not too warm.
So, this is it, I’ve done all I can, to paraphrase Tess on Strictly Results. Being realistic, I’m expecting anything up to 4 hours to get round, since my knee is still niggling. If I’d done this in the summer, I think I might have managed sub three hours. Now I will be glad just to get round. But it is what it is, and it’s going to be fun.
I shall be in pen F, probably towards the back, so if any of you are around, please come and say hello. Hopefully you will recognise me from my outfit! I’m running for Alzheimer’s Society, especially as Mr IDS’s mum now has Alzheimer’s.
LOVE flat Flick! Those leggings are amazing (and you are a star after all, so star leggings make perfect sense to me.) Hope the knee holds up for you; I will be thinking of you on Sunday and spurring you on in my head! xxx
Thank you lovely. And yes I am 😊 I have never ever had to break in a pair of running shoes. And these are Ons. I’ve put on a brand new pair of Ons straight out of the box and run 12k before now . I ran in them today to be sure, but they are the same size and model as I’ve had twice before. They feel exactly the same as the other pair I’ve had since January (and a heck of a lot better than the oldest pair which are knackered). On Running handed out brand new pairs of their shoes before the New York Marathon one year to elite athletes and ordinary runners. Apparently everyone ran a comfortable race. So please don’t worry lovely Princess person. And thank you for your support xxx

May they give you miles of joyful injury-free running 🏃♀️🏃♀️
Thank you. The star leggings went best with the Alzheimer’s top, which is more of a greedy blue than my phone camera picked up. The knee is going to slow me down a lot, but it can’t be helped X
This is your reward after all those months of (rather strict) training. No more beeping watch- just eating up the miles because you know you can do it. Enjoy!
So this is it! You’ve certainly training for it, you’ll be fine. I’m dead excited for you as I know how I felt last weekend for the metric. Go and fly Flick, you can do this❤️❤️👍
Best of luck Flick! You’re so well prepared you won’t need it...
I was going to post a ‘flatlay’ here before my last HM of all my gear scrunched up in a ball as I’m always all over the place until just before a run. 🙂 But then I thought people would think I was taking the proverbial so I didn’t.
Flick, I’m as excited for you as if I was running it myself. You’ve trained so darned hard and stuck to the strictest regime I’ve ever seen. You deserve to ace your HM. I’ll be thinking of you and sending you strong vibes. 🏃♀️ 💪
Get out there on Sunday, smile, think of all your VRBs cheering you on, and bring back the bling! You’ve got this! 👊 🏅
🤣 No, no. This is from the super-special Runner’s Pantheon! Well known in antiquity and currently being revived. 🤣🤣 Happy running with well-behaved knees. 😊
Love your starry leggings Flick! I wish you all the very best for your run. You’ve certainly put lots training in. Don’t worry about the time , just enjoy the occasion. 🏃♀️👏👏
Hey Hidden Take the advice handed to me before my HM in June - enjoy it. You have struggled through at times with your training and got to this day. You know what to expect so the only thing left is to enjoy the atmosphere and the event. Well done for sticking with it your charity is lucky to have you on their side 👍👍. Put up a link - I presume you have a JG page.
I do. I’m not sure if I’m supposed to post on here. It’s been harder fundraising this time as I can’t keep asking the same people race after race. And thanks for the advice - I’m actually looking forward to it at last x
Wonderful flat lay Flick! (I am also digging out a bin liner for my 10k race tomorrow as the weather looks awful and we need to park some distance from the start!🌧💦) Wishing you all the best for tomorrow. Take it steady, look after that knee and soak up the atmosphere!👍💪🏃🏽♀️x
Good luck Flick! You'll always get a PB in your first HM! Look after your knee, walk the water stations, smile, enjoy! Looking forward to an epic write-up! You can do it!
