Ouch.. ..

Maybe begin with the advice given on C25K FAQ for us as runners..

"For many years first aid for runners was known under the acronym R.I.C.E. standing for Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation. This has now been superseded by other variations such as M.I.C.E., where the M stands for mobility, because rest was often interpreted as no movement, which can be harmful for some injuries.

The NHS version now appears to be P.R.I.C.E., where the P stands for protection.

We are not medical experts, and speaking from personal experience... ( minor calf tear...) if it does not improve, then do go and get it checked out by a Sport's Physio...It really is worth it...

Bluebirdrunner is currently on the IC after seeing a Physio.. she had a calf issue.

Icing (packet of frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel while elevating the leg (high on cushions) is helping, twice a day for 20 mins. Stretching my ankle gently is easing everything too.

Take care Paul. x

Oh Paul, look after it. You’re so close to your HM now and you’ve put all the training in, so concentrate on making sure it’s in top order for the day.

It could just be pre-race anxiety. I get this, and things start to tighten up. I identified it as such so now I try not to worry. Easier said than done I know 🙂

That’s not to dismiss your concern of course. Ice is your friend, so ice, rest and elevate and don’t run for a few days. You could test it out carefully after that and see what it feels like.

A calf micro tear is dead painful and feels like a definite stabbing pain. Mine took three weeks to heal. If it’s a dull ache you might be able to rest it and hopefully be ok for race day 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

Ice pack ibuprofen. Naproxen. And voltarol cream seems to be easing it

ohhh the mention of stabbing pain has made me think. My legs have been a bit sore/achey this week (did pilates Monday and a run Sunday) and every so often they would kinda spasm and like a short burning/stabbing pain, but not really painful . Anyway I ran last night and feels better today so I'm hoping nothing serious
