HM training - Really hard 16.5k

After last week's easy 14k I went out with the idea of consolidating it. I was struggling after 3k but wouldn't give up...I have my 10k event next week so this is my last hm training long run for 2 weeks. I was determined to do at least 10k.

Around 9k everything started easing up...my legs relaxed, I started being able to breathe and the kms started coming easier. I got to 14k and it started to pour down and it was soooo nice.

I had 2 thoughts...firstly it's too wet to get my phone out and stop it and I could hardly see through my glasses lol

Secondly I thought it might well rain hard next weekend so I might as well see what it's like....and added on 2.5 km.

At least I know now I can grit my teeth and get through the hard kms.

I'm generally running over 20kms a week atm so the extra 2kms were within the 10 % rule

Thanks, I do start slow, around 9 mins per km, I start "waking up" a bit later into the run. I do a 15 min warm up walk first too

Fantastic! Well done 👍🏻😁

I'm blinded by all the notifications at the top of your screen though! 🙈🤣

Lol...yes, they build up over a 2.5 hour run. I communicate a lot with my friends abroad using various phone apps

Oh that would cause me awful anxiety! I get wound up if I've got one or two over an afternoon! 🤣🤣🤣🙈

I'm also a bit of an online gamer lol. Sometimes I get hundreds of notifications about tactics and team stuff. I just read when I can. I don't play so much now but I used to have sleep issues and passed the time playing war games lol.

Oh dear, I had my time lost in xbox... I played Battlefield 4 days straight one time...so addictive! I knew I was in trouble when I scanned the rooftops when I left the house for snipers and when something flew overhead and my first reaction was... enemy UAV 🤣🤣🤣 loved it though, miss it sometimes now but more the social aspect but I do get out more now! 👍🏻😁

Haha...yes...they can be addictive...I played a Tribal Wars 2 server - we won but it took us months lol. Luckily they allow coops and most of the people who play are young men with waaay too much time on their hands so they covered my account while I worked lol. The social aspect is great.

I can imagine you looking for snipers...that made me laugh : )

Wow! Good job! Way to grind it out. I love when you reach that point in your run where you feel like you can go on and on and on.....

Thanks I just need to find a way to make the beginning easier.

It’ll come. Keep it slow and “easy” to start. As your legs and lungs catch up, you get in the zone

Great running... that ability to push through and keep going is gonna serve you very well.

Brilliant! You have it in the bag, no problem. And you'll run faster on race day, so you'll be well within target
