As most of you know, I'm running the Ealing half on 29th September. Last weekend, I reached the full 13.1 miles which was so exciting for me.
Today, I was meant to run my final long run (10 miles) before doing 10k next weekend as my taper. However, I just didn't do it.. I have horrific PMS, and a 10,000 paper for my qualification due tomorrow, which just took priority. It's the first long run I've missed and I feel horrifically guilty now!
I have a 3/4 miler tomorrow, and then i work from home Wednesday, so was planning on doing 8/9 miles as my last long run then instead of the 10 miles today, before tapering right down to a couple of 5ks.
I guess my question is: have I totally blown it by not running today, and will moving a long run to Wednesday hurt me?

Totally not blown it! You have done all the hard training now; you will be as fit as a flea. I missed my last long run (16k) as I developed ITB friction syndrome, and needed to rest a week. I then did a couple of short taper runs the week before, and ran my HM today. And finished it!
Tapering is SO important so please don't feel tempted to make any of your taper week runs longer than planned. An easy 5k and an easy 2-3k a couple of days before will be fine. Fresh legs needed for the day! You've done the distance, you have the fitness, you are going to be great! Just enjoy. xxx
I was listening to a marathon training podcast earlier in the year, and they said that all running plans are designed to have some redundancy in them, and so long as you run 85% of one and don’t miss the long runs much then you’ll be fine. Made a lot of sense to me and gave me the confidence to start the journey to HM. Enjoy the taper... and then of course that HM.
Absolutely not - you are well prepared! I had a far longer 'taper' than planned when I trained for my HM, due to illness just prior to the taper. Race day, I was fresh as a daisy and ran a PB! You will be fine - good luck!👍🙂
Hi Becky, as others have said you certainly haven’t blown it, or anything like that.🙂 A little extra rest won’t do you any harm as long as you’ve done most of your runs.🏃♀️👍
Most of us can’t follow a strict regime because life has a nasty habit of getting in the way!😆 Don’t beat yourself up about it, you’ll be fine!
As others have said, your plans and hard work will not disappear down the pan all because of one missed run. You will always need to allow for lifes interruptions within this running life.
If anything you may add a little extra freshness to your legs.
