Some of you may remember that I mentioned a grumbling glute in some of my replies. I don't think I posted explicitly about it...… Anyway...
Now 6 weeks in and have only just been told I can "try" a short run, but I need to wind back the tempo (not sure how fast my physio thought I was going) and wind back my distance. Meanwhile continue glute stretches and basic strengthening every day...…
After spending 30 minutes with his elbows embedded firmly in my posterior cheeks, walking was a challenge in itself on the following day.
Still getting searing pain for first 10-20 seconds after standing up each and everytime, but I'm assured this will go away as the muscle gets stronger, rested and generally better at doing what it should!!
As to what caused it - too many squats and bridges with weights!! So the lesson for me is to just use body weight. Maybe adding 10-15kg when I'm already 18st was too much for my little rump!
Updates later in the week as to how my slow/short run went!
Stay healthy people x

Ouch! I have had the the old elbow-in-the-bum routine and it made my eyes water! Poor you. I didn’t realise you were on the IC, Mitch. I hope you heal fast now you have a plan. I have been known to cause myself an injury by being too enthusiastic. 😱 In fact, I am on the IC myself at the moment, with ITB syndrome - the worst diagnosis a gal can get with a HM in the calendar for this Sunday eeeek.
Let us know how your short run goes - all the best!
Well...It’s not a pace thing, but distance unfortunately...short runs am okay, but it flares up on long runs. Still undecided as to whether I give it a go. If I fail this year there’s always next year I suppose! Happy healing to us both. x
Oh wow LL, what a journey. At least you’re on the ups. I hope the pain diminishes and you can get back to where you left off and your glutes give you a break. 🤞🤞
Oh good luck with your run, Mitch, hope your physio has ironed you out! I have been struggling with glute/piriformis issues for months, have been through elbows, needles, stretches and now seeing an osteopath - got to find the right remedy eventually!!
