16K when lost in the park πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ‘

I set out yesterday to run for an hour in the light drizzle as it would be better temperatures for an explore of the trails around my local park.

I started well at a steady pace, some of the trails had turned into little streams which made me concentrate on my footing a bit more.

Ambling along I looped around a lake I hadn’t been past before and followed a path into the woods just like little red riding hood with no clue where I was.

Next time I checked my watch, I was up to 11K and well and truly lost as the rain 🌧 bucketed down and I was glad of the shelter the canopy afforded me.

To cut along story short, I eventually found my way back to a path I recognised and returned to my starting point soaked through having run for 2 hours and feeling exhilarated.

I definitely found my endurance pace, and will continue exploring trails as it is improving my core stability.

Half marathon training continues with more confidence now as I was doubting my endurance.

Looking at my path, can you see a dog jumping over a rock?

That sounds like a good two hours. Yes I can see the dog. You will have to go into competition with the guy on Strava who creates art from his Strava runs. 😊

Thanks Knittingrunner , my art was pure chance😜

I got to the point where I couldn’t get any wetter, and I think that was when I just enjoyed being out there watching the rain run off the peak of my cap protecting my glasses.

The one puddle was deeper than expected as I sank into the mud up to my ankle. Oh well, squelched onwards whilst my shoe slowly emptied πŸ˜€

Congratulations Foz4star. That is only .03km less than 10 miles, but I reckon you qualify for a 10 mile badge so post it on the marathon site.

That’s a good time too.

Cheers Dexy5 , My mental arithmetic went out of the window, should have run the extra few yards πŸ˜€. I do have my 10 mile badge from a previous effort, but I consider this my best effort for the distance.

Well done you. I’m still on that journey- 2 more km to go to prepare for the Great South Run in October. I’d be very pleased with 2 hours.
