Unfortunately slower this morning - 5:04 per km βΉοΈ
Taking the positives over the negatives though! My son paced me brilliantly - he ran 5:01, 4:59 after I asked him to take me through the first km in 5 mins then increase the pace if I was still with him. Needless to say I wasn't but he didn't belt off into the distance π€£
Into the wind this week and I've had a cough since Friday so it felt really tough. I almost gave up when I hit 1 mile but pleased I managed to keep going to the end.
I think I may be doing this a little different to others in that I am doing my usual slow run for about 30-40 mins as my warm up ( as recommended) then resetting my App and running a fast(ish π€ͺ) km. as I want to up my pace and using this as a sort of interval (singular π€£) run/challenge. If this is wrong and I should be say running a 5k and taking my average please say.
If itβs ok I am pleased to say I ran last week and the km took me 6.38 and today I managed 6.24 π so pleased with that improvement. Please can you add me to the spreadsheet. I did post my result last week but I canβt see me on there ππ€£π
Here are my results, including a correction to week 1. I've decided to use the Strava segment of my club run rather than the overall run so as to remove errors due to forgetting to press stop at the right time (as if...) So:
Week 1: 9:09/mile = 5:41/km
Week 2: 9:07/mile = 5:40/km
I thought I had done so much better this week but I had a bit of a slow start, chatting too much!!! A one second improvement is better than one second slower I suppose
Hi well done everyone on the spring speed challenge
As mentioned , this time speed didnβt meet the objective of my month with the marathon on the 5th. However, i turned on my Garmin this morning and it told me I had 4 new records , one of which was the fastest 10k measured on it. It turns out I ran 10k in the marathon in 46:40 ( 4β40β per k) .
My pb on a 10 is 40:16 but Garmin does not know it....
Iβll try to get some speed in once I have fully recovered from the mar, Iβll keep following this post and let you know Iβm case, no needs to add stats for me, but I liked to participate in the discussion
Ran this morning.. just 2K in total ... first 1K then stop, photo stop... and then 2nd, pulling back a little.. I ran the first 1K in 6.12 .....Yeayayayayayayaya.
No twinges and breathing fine... glorious sunshine too!!!
Considering my first run back after the IC was 8 min+ for 1K... I am feeling a lot happier and healthier xx
Well, the 5k race went ok for me today. A great event apart from a LOT of congestion on the course for the first 400m which was a challenge, especially on such a short race but I managed a pb and averaged 4m10s per km so am pleased with that. Doubt that will improve during the rest of the challenge! Gave it my all! π
I always go off too fast then run out of energy. Anyhow, this week I tried starting off too fast as usual then pushing myself as the energy began to run out. Anyhow, did the 1k in 4:33 which I think is a 13 second improvement. And an overall distance of 13.5k.
