Hi, I completed C25k a year ago next month. I've completed Ju-Ju's Magic 10K twice, and done one 10K race. I'm a runaholic, just love to run, wish I'd discovered running years ago...but such is life. I'm on the IC yet again...I don't seem to learn. Always seem to injure myself when I increase my distance. So possibly a marathon is a step too far for my poor old limbs, but with the right training support I might just achieve it!
Got carried away after watching the London marathon and jumped in along with 2 others on this forum and put my name into the ballot - I must be bonkers π....but anything is possible, isn't it?
I'm not telling friends and family about this in case I don't make it!
Happy running everyone...all advice, hints etc., will be gratefully received. BTW I'm an aged runner, probably considered geriatric π¬π

Hi there! Welcome to the forum!!! I hope you find fun and inspiration here πππ I'd definitely look out for 10 mile and half marathon race reports to give you an idea of what's out there. See the latest "Pom Pom post" right below yours to find out what folk are up to this weekend.
I say this because it's a great idea to try some shorter events before thinking about tackling a full marathon, and I reckon you'd enjoy them!
Sorry to hear about your injury. What is wrong? And do you keep getting the same problem? By how much are you increasing your distances?
Good luck about your ballot for London next year Gran4z, however, with your injuries I understand why you are not telling your friends and family, they might think that you areπI just hope that you recover from your your injury soon. π
Good luck! I've had several spells on the IC. At the time it feels like I will never be fit, but somehow I've limped my way from 5k, to 10k to 10 miles to HM - so have hope! The fact that you entered the ballot shows you have more than a spark of commitment too - you will be back on track soon I'm sure. Wishing you a speedy recovery and a happy journey to longer distances πββοΈπ π
You are inspiring - thank you for such a positive note Linda. Happily did a wk2r1 of C25k this morning...very gently easing my way back. Was pain free - yippee!
Fantastic. Those are the very best runs - the post-injury, pain-free ones. Although maybe the post-injury, pain-free, not-body-scanning-for-signs-of-a-niggle-every-few-seconds are the best - sadly I wouldn't know, but maybe someone else does π
Hi Iβm an older runner 60 in September and like you wish I had started running a long time ago..who knew this running malarkey would be so addictive. Iβm doing my first 10k event tomorrow and again like you entered the ballot for the London Marathon π¬ I have avoided injury by taking the build up to 10k really slowly but Iβm aware of my βkneesβ even when walking now and Iβm concerned that I wonβt be able to progress further with distance my next goal would be the 10 mile one. Hope your injury improves quickly and you get your marathon place π
Hi there, enjoy your 10K tomorrow...is that the Bristol 10K, lots of people here doing that one. Enjoy lots! My build-up was slow, I just got too excited doing my first 10K and went too fast...such is life. Knees an be problematic, I support mine with KT tape. Anyway, have a fab time tomorrow, hope the weather stays fine for you but not too hot. Happy running
You've got ages to prep for the marathon, id say not bonkers at all
I'm like you and getting slowly addicted, and wish I'd started years ago!! I completed a spreadsheet the other day as want to try and slowly up distance.... and I realised did a bit too much last week, just by accident. So gonna take it a bit more easier, or try!!
not sure why you are on IC, but roller balls and such help me, and tennis balls!!
