On a whim I’ve only gone and signed up for a half marathon in October!!! I was looking for some sort of race then as my birthday is in that month and the Royal Parks Half Marathon jumped out at me!! It was 6.30 this morning and I’d been out for a short run as I’ve been ill!!! Please please tell me it’s doable, even if I have to run/walk, I just want to finish 🤣🏃‍♀️🤣🏃‍♀️

Congratulations Shelley on signing up for a half marathon in October, yes its definitely doable, it might be a good idea to run some 10K before that to let you get used to the longer runs with a crowd, perhaps around the beginning of September.

Thanks I’ve actually got a 10k woodland run in may 😱. I’ll probably walk/run that to make the distance and then gradually up my distance running!

My only goal is to get over the finishing line, don’t want to break any records. I know I’ll probably have to run/walk due to my back injury, but I’m happy with that.

Run/walk is perfectly acceptable - I will be taking walk breaks, I am sure! xxx

Yes you can do it! You’ve plenty of time to work your way up to the distance on your long runs - try adding 10% to your distance each week and see how it goes.

Having seen what you’ve done so far, it’s not even in question. When you go to that start line you’ll know how much you can run, and that’s all you need to do to complete it. You’ll finish and I want to see you and that medal on here straight after.

Thank you 😊. As it’s for Alzheimer’s Society I don’t have a choice but finish....even if I end up crawling 😂😂

Woohoo Shelley, yes you can! 👍👊🏃‍♀️👏

I’ll be looking to you for inspiration as I’m a stalwart “10k will be my longest distance” kind of people, but recently I’ve been vaguely wondering about 10 miles ..... 🤔

So keep posting about your HM training and I’ll see! Good luck with your 10k woodland race. Sounds fun! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Over six months is plenty of time. Most HM plans are around 12 weeks.
