Set off earlier to do my virtual 15K in aid of Stroke. They are a fantastic charity and it's been a while since I did my last Chest, Heart & Stroke event.
My last run building up was 14K and I was pooped by the end, so I set off with more than a little trepidation. So when I managed the planned 15K plus a little extra to get my first 10-miler under my belt, well, ecstatic might just about cover it!
I'm still struggling hugely with my eyes which are constantly irritated and I spend half the run screwing them up. Prob more than half in truth. Equally, breathing through my nose has been a trial for some time and I can't get to the bottom of it. For long runs, like today, that means more than a little focus when trying to eat gels on the go, but I made it work!
I've raised over £200 so far and am thrilled with that.
I love watching the relive videos! Great job on your first 10 miler as part of your charity run. It looks like a pretty place to run and you covered it in great time!
Congratulations on your 10 miles, great achievement and a great time too. And fabulous fundraising on top. Irritated eyes sounds horribly distracting though. I've never mastered nose breathing when running - in most photos I'm blowing my nose or at the very least have tissue in hand 😥
Wow well done Hidden , I hope you're proud of yourself Mrs coz that's a brilliant run, fantastic distance and all for such a good cause. How good is it that we can raise money while doing something we love?! It's a win win xx
Can't say what's wrong with my eyes, wearing wrap-arounds helps, but doesn't alleviate completely. I come home covered in salt crusts from either streaming or sweat. Weird huh! I should take a pocketful of wet wipes! 😄
Fabulous Equi-geek. I saw HoagyM's comment the other day saying that you can't do too many 10K races. Now, I haven't done any...yet! The logic was 'why would I when I do one every Sunday'. But I'm listening and a race event is not a long run on a Sunday morning, so I've signed up to 2 today!
I did the 15K in an attempt to bridge the gap to the elusive HM. I also had hoped to do the 17.46K Culloden run, but it's at the end of the year so doesn't work in with my plans. Pity, as it sounds epic!
I've still set that distance as my next goal, small steps... I'm also trying to get signed up for a local HM in August, but I'm on the waiting list at the moment.
So, that's my year sorted out, just got to go run it now. How about you, what's next?
