2 weeks ago it was starting to look not too bad - I did an 18K training run and with 20 weeks to go to the marathon , increasing it by around 2K per fortnightly run would get me close to the 42K distance. So I went out for an early morning run today to do 20K. Trouble is it was 25C at 5AM and 90% humidity - I got to 10K and simply couldn't go any further. I was sweating so profusely I was having trouble seeing where I was going!! Possibly I could have stopped and recovered a little - maybe even changed my sopping wet clothes , but I knew it would be silly to do so. I will see if I can just increase my normal daily "volume" a bit for the rest of the week. There are arguments about marathon training whether weekly volume is more important than steadily increasing longruns. Of course nobody knows the correct answer

No lots of conflicting advice out there. I guess its a case of try all and see what you prefer. Well done though. Tough conditions.
Goodness, that humidity! I'm sure there are a million ways to approach the training, all as good as each other, and what you're doing is obviously working. I couldn't imagine doing anything in that sort of damp heat let alone running, so hats off to you! 🎩 😅
Oh flippin eck! The heat and humidity is a game-changer for sure. I was reading in my running mag yesterday about ultramarathoners training by doing two runs a day. Splitting the job up might be an idea while it's so flamin hot. Take care out there!
Managed to complete my "missing" 10K this morning. Similar running conditions - but I changed shoes ( I am now running mostly in sandals) and didn't carry 3Kg of water on my back!!! My plan was for a total of 35K this week including 20K as a longrun - but I will at least achieve the 35K.
