First fall and injury!! 😫

So today whilst out on a run, I kinda tripped on a rock on the pavement and went over on my ankle!! Was having a great run with a member of my running club, great pace and a beautiful morning!!! πŸ˜₯ so I collapsed in a heap and luckily a lovely man, passing by took me to my gym (where my car was) so very kind!

I was looked after at the gym as it’s where our running club meets.

I have a very swollen ankle (on the outside joint part) I’m following RICE but just wondered if anyone knows how long these type of injuries take to heal? I’ve the Great South Run in 2 weeks and really want to be fit!!

I’m feeling devastated!!!

Sorry for the rant and thanks for reading!!

Sorry to hear about your injury - and the fall! I hope you feel ok (sore ankle aside)!!!

I don't know what sort of injury it is, but in any case I'm afraid you'll just have to see how it goes. The best advice I can give is to try and keep it as mobile as pain allows.

Good luck!!!

Hope it settles soon - and you have THREE weeks until the GSR ( I know because I'm doing it too!!)πŸ™‚

That’s even better then! Thanks Sandraj

Oh no, such bad timing. I am also doing GSR and have had bad dreams of breaking my ankle before the run. I am trying to stay injury free whilst still training. Follow the RICE and see how it is. Hopefully it will heal soon. Most of the training runs are done so resting to race day would be ok.

3 weeks. It's still 3 weeks! Rest it well now and don't be tempted to go back too soon. I've just come down with shingles so want every one of those 3 weeks to get better. I've decided to take as much time off as needed for now. Much as I'd love to keep up the training momentum, I think it's better to make sure I can start and finish even if it's even slower than I was expecting! Hopefully RICE will bring your ankle down fast. Good luck πŸ™‚

Ooh ouch , sorry to hear about your fall and ankle , as with these things always at the wrong time, hopefully it is no more than a sprain .

Unfortunately rest is the way forward , following the RICE way is the best thing, from what i know depending on how bad it is you could be looking at 2-3 weeks for a sprain 😯😐

Maybe an trip to the doc's wouldnt hurt to confirm a diagnosis .Hope you recover soon 😊
