I used to pride myself on my ladylike lack of sweating. It could be 100 degrees and I wouldn’t lose a drop........ until I started running that is.
In the past 5 years of running my sweating has got worse and worse and I don’t know why. To elaborate on this problem:
Short run, dripping with sweat.
Spinning at the gym, there is a puddle on the floor by the end and I slide all over the saddle.
Even swimming I can feel myself sweating.
Recently at work I had a meeting on a hot day. I got up at the end to find a huge wet patch on my shirt dress ( I hadn’t wet myself). This caused much hilarity with my colleagues.
Even walking.... wet t shirt by the end.
Has anyone else found this, or am I just super sweaty juju ?
Pic after spinning to demonstrate how bad it is!!

My brother has a problem like that, he's not sporty, but his guitars and mandolins have suffered damage from his sweaty paws I read up on it a bit, some time ago now, I think there are treatments available - some of them rather drastic though, and I think it was more just for hands*. I suppose the time of life could be a factor for you though? Maybe it will ease with more time?
*Edit: Not just for hands, and the condition is called hyperhidrosis.
I was told some years ago that as your body gets fitter you sweat more (the cooling down process enhanced). Just pulled this snippet from the Livestrong site
"According to the America’s Authority on Fitness website, excessive amounts of sweat during exercise develop when your core body temperature elevates. The eccrine sweat glands then release the body’s fluid, forcing it to the skin’s surface to cool down the body. This sweat is supposed to evaporate, but in humid environments, it can be difficult. As a result, more sweat remains on the body. In addition, excessive sweating can be a sign that you are physically fit. This is the way the body adapts to consistent physical exercise."
Admittedly the above is during exercise but if your body has adapted, and there's no underlying condition (e.g. Thyroid, peri or menopausal among just others) then it makes sense, to me 😊, that the weather conditions we have now could lead to a zealous cooling system. I certainly experience something similar at work st times.
I have the same understanding as you Annie.Indication of first class fitness.
One of the fittest chaps in our gym, past London Marathon Championship runner, now retired , cannot do impact now, daily routine , Xtrainer, rowing, spinner minimum 90 mins - 120 mins everyday, absolutely lathered.365 days a year and seen him over the past 4-5 years. Never any different lathered and immediately to the gym showers.
I have found this as well ju-ju. I never used to sweat a drop, or get warm. Even in summer I'd still be wearing jumpers and have freezing hands. I've taken to walking to work now and have to take a change of clothes so I don't have to wear sweaty ones all day. Also, I've started running in a vest top and shorts! Me... in shorts... in the rain... when it's only 12°c! 🤤
Thank you AnnieW55 for clearing that little mystery up for me. And thank you ju-ju- for the post.
Oh yes, me too, and apparently as AnnieW55 says, it is to do with getting fitter, it’s like “ok we’re doing this activity now....efficient heat exchange system...on...” and this morning I was out on my long run, humidity was 94%, I was a right old sweaty Betty when I got back......😏.
Mind you I’m also having extremely efficient heat blasts, thanks to my age/hormones etc., running is the only thing that seems to keep me comfortable! 🏃♀️🔥......i’ll end up being an ultra runner at this rate...(no, not really...😝) 😂😂😂😂😂
I remember flinging windows and outer doors open in the middle of the coldest winter nights.. the whole family screeching for me to close them Walking out in the garden,,just to chill off...
Not sure how fitness related this is..but it will ease
And.. I have to say Ju... you still look amazing!!!
I know exactly how you feel Ju, even when it’s 4deg, I go out in T and shorts and still sweat. I put lenses In opposed to wearing my glasses in the warmer weather....far more comfortable!
I have been sweaty all my life. I remember as a teen my Mum adding removable armpit pads to my clothes. I buy patterned tops now for work as they show sweat less or not at all.
As for when I am running, the sweat runs in my eyes and stings and my clothes are sodden at the end. When I stop running, I have an even greater sweat flood for a few minutes.
I am resigned to it after all these years and can't blame being 49 and female.
Ironically I too am the one with a jumper on and cold hands. I can sweat when I actially feel cold!
