First Beer run done

[Decker]

There is a running group here that runs to craft breweries and brew pubs: runtobeer.ca Just a 5k for this one, through some parkland in Toronto, to the Prohibition Pub and a free beer. What’s not to love? was a nice break from a crazy day too. Wound up hanging with some of the older people afterwards, who all turned out to be Ultra Marathoners, having run through the Arctic and across the Grand Canyon. Crazy stories. Might try another one of these runs soon.

It is! Though they made up for the free beer with somewhat escalated prices for your next one 🙂

I don’t drink ales but the whole subject interests me, possibly the balm bit which makes bread 🍞 or bottled conditioned ale to make malt loaf 😋

Yes It was interesting. A while back I went to a small cask craft beer fest and was amazed at the variety of beers and ciders the vendors had. Hundreds of options.

The ultra guys were mad! Always ready for a pint.

They were saying some of the ultra races have partnered with breweries to have beer trucks at the finish, because after running 50 or 100 miles that is exactly what your body needs 🙄😁

Our local Ultra paired with a local brewery and offers up some neat craft beers post race. It's pretty awesome. Those of us that only run the 5, 10, or 20 also get a free beer (and poutine🤤).....heavenly..... Of course I only ran 5k last year so consumed A LOT more calories post race than burned 😂

Haha 🤣 maybe if it was on a Friday. We only had one or two since we were working. And they could back each others stories up too. Unless they were all in cahoots with one another...

Im not a drinker at all , but theres nowt better than a good pint of beer after a race is there ? It goes down a treat . Mine hardly touched the sides after my HM last year xxx

Yep I agree Pops, the beer after our HM was warm and the weather was cold, but we did not care and it went down like butter on warm toast. 😁

We did get a bottle of beer from local brewery at the end of one of the Easter races, we have a fellow runner that works there so think he may have had a hand in that!!

I just joined it the day before on a whim, not knowing quite what I was in for, but they seem like a good bunch. Not quite as tight as the Saturday Ninja crew, but still pretty cool. And did I mention the FREE beer? Of course, the next one was ten bucks but who's counting?

It's not just a run to beer, but a FREE beer?!? Score! Of course the next one would be $10, you just gotta control yourself 😆. Do you have to run home after, too? Much more than one and I wouldn't make it home (I'm a bit of a light weight in the drinking department)

I only had one more over the free one. 😊. I took the subway to get closer to my house and then ran from there for a couple of k as it was cold by that point.

I have won £10 off the entry into a gin run the next time I'm in London. Problem is, I'm not terribly fond of gin...

Yes I may try a few more of these. 🙂 Yes I think it was just this place that was a bit pricey. Other venues promise to be a bit more reasonable.

A Gin run huh? Not a huge Gin fan either, but I know some friends that would be all over that!
