The men in their white coats didn't come a knocking after my last run so I did another 12 hour run yesterday. This was the White Star Running Bad Cow event not far from Corfe Castle in Dorset around woods and open more-land.
White Star Running are getting a bit of a "Glastonbury" reputation with tickets selling out with hours for some of the events. Great events, well organised and most importantly fun with great bling!!
The event (I wont say race) started at 07:30 and comprised of a 4.4 mile route which thankfully wasn't too hilly. You can enter the event as a "solo" runner or in teams of 2,3 or 4 taking it in turns to do a lap. Runners keep going up to a maximum of 12 hours. Weather was generally good, but we did have an hour of really heavy rain and thunderstorms which was fun (not). My car was close to the start/finish line so i was able to eat & drink after each lap for a few minutes.
I entered as a solo runner and manged to run, jog, run-walk, walk for 10 hours covering a total distance of 57.5 km. I was pleased to get a marathon PB and a distance PB. Still haven't done a road marathon, would be interesting to see what I can do without running on trails!!
Going to have a few days rest and then some gentle runs in readiness for next weekends 9 mile night run ... what fun!
Happy running everyone

Wahay! Sounds fab that does! Well, apart from the ten hours! π Having your car as a base was a good move! Very handy Andy π
I run on a hilly trail in prep for my next road half and full marathon and I keep thinking how much shorter the actual race will feel in comparison. I just hope I,m not labouring under a wotsit ππ
Running the trails is great fun isn't it. Valdereeeeeeeeeee πππ
Andy, those men in coats may have missed you last time but keep looking over your shoulder - I hear they're on their way!π Seriously, sounds fantastic if you're up for running for hours and hours, which you quite clearly are! Well done!π
You're getting a taste for these runs, aren't you? I am in absolute awe! And you look so relaxed. I can't imagine running for 12 hours non-stop. But it obviously suits you!
Great...for info, WSR are putting their 2018 events up on the 29th Sept for booking.. Some of the smaller events will go quickly.. so take a look if you're interested.
Well done for your club runner... unbelievably, I actually came 13th out of 175 that did the solo event!!
