Quick post and photos as we are tired out! Walk the Wight 2016 for our local hospice is quite an event here and the end of the walking festival.....We started at 6.15am in Bembridge and walked to Alum Bay getting there at 5pm . About 1000 m elevation..... Lovely sunny weather and a brisk breeze!several tea/coffee/snack/loo stops on the way and a nice picnic lunch overlooking the sea!
We took it steady and I'm fairly sure I didn't get blisters this year, sore feet though and bit achy now but not horrendous!Pauls pal Steve suffered a few bad big blisters one of which burst with 6 miles to go but he persevered and made it to the end. A good atmosphere and support from marshalls, quite a few runners ran the whole thing, brave souls!i ran a TINY bit (a few miles from the end) to say i had but only about 10 SECONDS!
Celebrated with cider at the end!
*Well done too to my dad (81 next month )who did the 2nd half of 14 miles in 6 hrs!π
Had a soak and Chinese takeaway but now being subjected to re run of grand prixπEarly night for me!ππ
