Bleed behind Macula

I was diagnosed with wet AMD in the left eye late December 2023 and I have had 7 injections of Vasbysmo.. roughly 10 days ago the day of my last injection everything in the left eye was very dark and I couldn't focus .. had my scans and injection and Consultant wanted me to go to Heath Hospital in Cardiff but instead of having to go all my scans and notes went instead and Consultant there said he didn't want to operate because of where the bleed was, wondered if anyone here has had this problem and did the bleed go and if so how long did it take?Thank you

Susz

I’ve not had this exact problem, but I do understand it and how worrying it must be for you. I’m a “bleeder” and will bleed even when treated, but I’ve not had a bleed right on the macular while on treatment. My experience is that if you can see the bleed in your visual field, it tends to take a while to clear, in my case even up to a couple of months. I hope yours clears without too much scarring.

Went on Vabysmo and after 6 injections was put back on Eylea. Inside lower lid became very red...infection or inflammation ? Retina Doc said Vabysmo was having more problems than Eylea...

Now that is worrying, wonder if Vasbysmo caused it?

At my hospital Mass Eye & Ear/Mass General Brigham (Boston MA , USA) they call it "Fluid." Maybe it is blood I really dont know. Vabysmo worked very well at first, but had the inflammation/infection ? that I mentioned. I get my 70th injection tomorrow and will ask retina doc exactly what the fluid is. Never got the dreaded "scotoma" just slightly blurred vision and the good eye over-compensates for the bad boy giving me quite good total vision.

It was fluid originally which Vasbysmo cleared up, now it blood it's like a curtain comes over central vision ... don't know what's going to happen ;( Consultant says it does happen often but not found anyone that has had it to find out if it clears and if so how long it takes .... South Wales UK

Retina Doc says that "Fluid" & "Blood" are not the same.

Best advice is to save your "good eye," if you have one, with eye vits (AREDS2) & eye diet (dark greens, etc). Good eye will always overcompensate for bad eye.

Good morning. According to some information from the US trials of Vabysmo, This was a common side effect reported by participant's but it should go away after a few weeks. If it is still there or gets worse definitely go back to your clinic about it.

Thank you Paul very interesting, my Consultant is pretty sure it's not the Vasbysmo but he would say that... last week was 4 weeks since it happened I managed yo read a lot on the eye chart previous I couldn't see any he also said the bleeding has stopped but it could take months for the body to reabsorb the blood already there... I can see a little more until the blood starts moving around ... so fingers crossed it doesn't do anymore damage
