So tired

Hello, newbie from UK. I'm 61 and also suffer lyme disease since 2003. Bedbound for 3 years. Up and living life again now. We adjust. Recently diagnosed with wet macular degeneration, came on suddenly. Had my first injection on Tuesday ( wasn't numb enough ouch) anyway since then I've felt drained and not well at all. Antibiotics or stress kick off lyme symptoms. I was doing so well upto this.

At a loss as to whether its lyme or a reaction to the injection.

Daunting to think I'm going to feel like this monthly.

I'm very much into keeping fit in my own gym but right now all I want to do is sleep..

Is it normal to feel under the weather with MD and injections or am I having a lyme reaction. Puzzled and fed up.

hi there so sorry to hear about your health I know nothing of Lyme disease, I know that anti vegf itself is such a little amount that it would I think make little difference to the rest of your body However the thought of having the injections and the waiting around can make people feel really tired. Hope you feel better soon the injections are really not as bad as they sound.

Hi Isore. I'm sorry to hear about the Lyme Disease, how very unpleasant for you.

I don't know which drug you're having but I've had over 50 injections of Eylea now and I do feel a little tired afterwards but not to the extent you are. I think the worry of whether it will hurt or not etc has a lot to do with that. I've found a thread, albeit from five years ago, which may put your mind at rest and let you know that you're not alone in how you feel. I'll leave the link below:

I hope the more injections you have the less tired you will feel. Make sure you tell them when you have your next injection that you need more anaesthetic drops prior to injection and let them know why. Good luck and let us know how it all goes.

Hi, I am sorry you felt the injection. I always ask for plenty of numbing drops. I have both eyes injected and the only time I ever feel a slight pain is in my left eye, never in my right for some reason. In fact when I have an injection in my right eye I only know because of seeing the fluid.

The injections don’t make me tired. I know some people lie down afterwards. If I have a bit of a gritty feeling afterwards I use a sterile bottle of dry eye drops and it really helps.

Good luck with your next injection and tell them you need more drops!

Definitely tell them next time you felt it and want lots of anaesthetic. It shouldn't hurt but I found different injectors can make a difference, also the site of inj which varies ( upper eye was always more tender for me, I think because the anaesthetic drops run down and pool at the bottom!).I take 2 paracetamol about an hour before inj. which helps with any discomfort after, and use a new bottle of soothing drops if eye gritty.

I used to get very tired my first few inj, was wiped out the rest of the day - I think it was the stress of it all.
