Hi catseyes, thanks for posting this interesting research. My injections have. Been pretty random over three years after the initial three injections at monthly intervals. My consultant says she wants to avoid scarring from too many injections. I find them very painful anyway. Currently both eyes injected every six weeeks. Never realised that some people are able to evenntually able to do without injections. Fingers crossed! Best wishes to you.

I think it needs perfecting but hopefully might give hope that injections are needed less/more. I’ve been having injections for 5 years, my brother 6 years and sister started last year. V good results with first eye(left) then other eye but left eye suffered from having 17 week gap with no injection after a mini stroke during lockdown while right eye was fine and still is - and on every 16 week injection while left is every 8 weeks. So the gaps can get wider! I’ve only heard of 1 person who has stopped having injections..

Has there been any suggestion that your condition is improving? Is you ability to read letters better and scan results showing fluid drying up?

The injections really should not be painful. Do you mean while having the injection itself or after. Do tell the people of the problems with pain. You might need some more anaesthetic? My treatment has improved now I don’t have iodine due to allergy which was getting worse culminating with streaming eyes, nose and puffy face! All the best...

According to the san Paulo institute 6% of patients have pain levels between 6 and 10 from eye injections. Mine were excruciating (during). My anxiety levels were through the roof. Now get anaesthetic injection of lidocaine as well as drops but it only works if it is left for five minutes prior to eylea injection. Allergic to iodine but now get an alternative so now don’t get painful after effects. This site plus my own research gave me the help I needed but it finally took a lovely wee doctor who listened to me to improve things. This took Almost three years! She is on holiday for my jag next week so will just have to grit my teeth. Think my sight is deteriorating but also have dry MC so not sure which is which. Will ask next time. All the best.

Really interesting, but only 38 patients so far, which is a small sample

Yes I know. However I am cheered by any research which may lead to better treatment! Hopefully they can go on and replicate the study ...
