wet amd
Hi, depends what you consider serious. I had wet AMD in my right eye and vision was quite badly distorted, though not lost. I think I caught it early though. Had 6 injections and haven’t needed any more in last 2 years. Vision restored in right eye and no problem in left.
Hi GailGail, I have wet AMD in my left eye which I have Eyelea injections for. I’ve had it about six years now and will have to continue with injections forever.I’ve been told I have dry AMD in my right eye, but so far it hasn’t caused any problems and I’m hoping it never does as my sight is good in that eye. Hopefully your situation will stay the same or improve. Best wishes.Ros.
Hi Gail, I have wet AMD in my left eye and dry in my right eye... I receive Lucentis Injections which have helped tremendously! I pray daily for God to maintain my vision!
Hi Gail. Yes, same here - I’ve had 8 Lucentis injections in my left eye (and ongoing) but right is good so far! I ask each time i go to the injection clinic and I’m assured each time that the right is fine!
Hi Gail,I have wet AMD in my right eye and had Lucentis injections for four years. I have been told by two eye doctors that my left eye is good and most likely will not get wet AMD. I was relieved to hear that. I hope you fare as well yourself. Good luck to you !
Yes My right eye is very blurred and I have not had any injections now for over a year as they don't seem to work for me. However my left eye is good and I pray it stays that way as it is doing all the work. Good luck hope all will be well for you.
I have wet AMD in my left eye. I have had umpteen Eylea injections in it and it is now stable. Very annoyingly my NHS District booking team keeps putting me on "the waiting list", and I have to ring up the consultants secretary to get my appointment when it is due. I should have routine appointments at specified times, (i.e. 6 weeks or two months: see the "Routine Follow Up" comments in these columns).
My right eye is fine, but is regularly checked . I also check it myself using the Amsler Grid! All the best and hugs xx
Hello Gail, I have wet amd in right eye and dry in left, I have regular Eyelea injections in right eye which help to stabilise the wet amd, the left eye remains with dry amd, and hopefully that will continue. Best wishes.
Hello,I have wet AMD in my right eye for coming up on 4 years now. Lucentis injections have not improved the vision, only maintained. I have completely distorted blurred vision in the center of that eye. I will need injections forever, unless the eye goes totally blind or new treatments are developed. My left eye has no AMD, but does have a cataract that they are delaying operating on until it is absolutely necessary as I would have no functioning vision should there be complications. Best wishes.

Thanks for replying to me. Are you able to function okay with your one good eye. I am new to this and really struggling.
Yes, I am having trouble with things. I had my first fender bender last March 😫 in a parking lot as my depth perception is off. Backing out of my garage, I broke my side mirror because I can't tell how close I am to the side. 😟 I park far from others now. I can't drive at night, maybe I could struggle if an emergency . I don't drive in big city traffic or highways as I can't see cars entering the freeway from my right side. I can't read many real books, Hot a lighted magnifier to use if I want to read a book. I use a Kindle e-reader and download books from my library so I can enlarge print. I can't sew much anymore, I can't judge the position of the needle on the machine or by hand, so I got a lighted magnifier on a stand and was able to sew lots of face masks for family and friends. I enlarge the computer screen fonts etc. I set any TV captioning on the largest font choice. I have installed safety things like night lights in bathrooms and hallways, grab bars in bathtub and have railings on both side of my stairs. All this has been a gradual thing, a little bit at a time. Whatever I am able to do to make things safe, workable, and to keep as independent as possible. It is a change, for sure. But I am thankful that there are the injections, as it has kept my right eye from being totally blind! We just have to do the best we can. Everyone faces challenges , so this is ours - we can do it ❤ There are many things to help us low vision people, websites with products, etc. If you are on Facebook look for a guy whose page name is : The Blind Life. He has Stargardt eye disease. Great product reviews. Best wishes, Linda
Pleased to report I am getting regular follow up appointments now, where both eyes are regularly checked and my dodgy left eye given an Elyea injection. My good right eye seems to be holding up. I tell you this whilst risking committing massive hubris!! xx
Thanks! FED xx
