Hi
Has anyone had a situation with fluid behind the macular.
I had a detached retina in January. Left it a little longer than I should. As I didn't know what it was.
The surgeon tried to repair with a glass bubble. Which didn't work. So used silicone oil on the next operation.
The surgeon then removed the oil in may, and replaced the lense.
All seemed to have gone well. Although a dark circle appeared in my vision over the next few days. I contacted the hospital, and spoke to a nurse. Who got back to me after speaking to a consultant. The consultant said they weren't too concerned. And not to worry about it.
At my next consultation, I was told that the retina had healed. But the macular had fluid behind it. And nothing more could be done.
I was told that the macular had lifted in the February. And the fluid had got under then.
During the operation in May. The surgeon, and assistant were discussing an issue with a piece of equipment that wasn't working. I heard her say it hadn't worked in an operation the day before.
She then came to speak to me after the operation. Telling me that I may have heard a conversation during the operation. But not to worry. As the surgeon did everything he he set out to do.
Obviously with the poor outcome from the operation. I'm now not sure if everything wasn't done correctly.
I'd like to know what she was talking about. And if there is anything that can be done about the fluid.
The surgeon did say he put some air into my eye to dry out as much of the oil as possible.
Again not sure if this equipment that wasnt working was supposed to do that.
