Hello, has anyone had bladder issues as result of eye injections? I’ve had cystitis type pain (no infection) and GP says that smth is irritating my bladder but nothing has changed other than the fact I am getting the injections and it all started after my first Eylea (I’ve had 2 so far), just wondering if its possible that the Eylea ‘ingredients’ (for the lack of a better word) could irritate ones bladder or if anyone has had anything similar happen pls..

Bladder issues after eye injection anyone?
I have never had this happen
Hi Chaz 2010. I've never had anything like that happen after three years of Eylea, it could be just pure coincidence. On saying that however, we are all different I suppose.
Hello!! I don’t know really, of course it could be a coincidence but I’ve never had anything like this in the past, it was when my GP said there was “something irritating my bladder” that I started wondering.. I also saw a post on here about someone who said they had to stop as the medication had triggered a whole body response (I tried messaging this person but longer a member of this forum) so I got curious to see if anyone had anything similar. Thanks Springcross. 🙏
Good Morning Chaz2010,
The injections stay localised to the eye, so it is very unlikely that they are affecting your bladder.

Thanks Becky, thats a relief. 🙏 I have another question related to my vision so will start a separate post. All the best!
May I draw your attention to a report from Health Canada news regarding Eylea injections,OverviewA safety review was carried out by Health Canada to evaluate the risk of harmful side effects in areas of the body other than the eye (systemic toxicity) associated with Eylea. The review was triggered by 3 scientific studies which observed that following injection into the eye, Eylea is removed from the body's bloodstream slower than alternative products, and this could possibly lead to systematic toxicity. The rare side effects of these medications include stroke, heart disease, high blood pressure, bleeding and signs of harm to the kidneys such as passing protein in the urine.
Good Afternoon Germanshepherd4,

This paper states that Health Canada's safety review concluded that despite the presence of low levels of Eylea in the rest of the body, the risk of experiencing side effects was not different from that of the similar product. There can be side effects but the risk is minimal and acknowledged, so those at high risk of stroke etc. may not be given it.
All the best,
Becky

Are you taking any eye drops for elevated pressure? I experienced the exact same thing, but I believe it was the drops that caused the issue.
No indication of your age or gender but I and several of my older friends have experienced long lasting cystitis type symptoms and one persons doc said it can be due to lack of oestrogen.
