Greetings, Joankelley,

What does your doctor tell you?

Good Afternoon Joankelley,

In most cases, the fluid is reabsorbed without any treatment. The majority of people with CSR will regain most or all of the sight they had before. If the fluid is still there after three to six months, you may need treatment to prevent more lasting damage to the macula.

One treatment option is using a laser to seal off the leak, but it cannot be used too close to the centre of the macula, as it can damage your central vision. If this is the case, you may be offered photodynamic therapy.

This is where a drug is injected into your bloodstream and activated in the eye using a low-energy laser, which won’t damage the macula.

You should also be helped to make any lifestyle changes that might help, such as reducing stress or stopping any drugs which could make the condition worse.

Please speak with your consultant if you require treatment, and if so which treatment is the best option for you,

Best Wishes,

Becky

Thank you, Becky. I have had CRS for more than 18 years, took numerous tests, (flouriscene angiogram), has consults with leading retinal specialists who told me mY CSR cannot be helped. Recently, I developed wet Macular Degeneration in my other eye, and yesterday received my first injection of Eylea.

I was hoping some formulary like Eylea might be available to people having CRS.

I also have chronic CSR in one eye. I am in USA. Once a specialist tried Lucentis injections x3 for my affected eye but it did not help. I have wavy lines and grayed out spots in that eye. I had one bleed in my right eye with minimal scarring. I have myopic degeneration not AMD. Symptoms began in my forties and I am now 60 and still work with enlarged fonts but don’t think I can mUch longer. My brother was worse effected and is legally blind in both eyes. I am interested in hearing more of your story and please post updates. Even with his impairments my brother leads a happy and full life so he motivates me not to despair. Take care.

I am in USA, 77 years old.

I have had CSR in my left eye for more than 20 years.....all eye drs say it cannot be fixed.

I was recently diagnosed with wet macular degeneration in my right eye. I am hoping and praying that the Eylea injections will preserve sight in my right eye.

I wondered if eye injections might be something to help CSR.....

I have not heard or read about anything that might improve vision in an eye that is affected with CSR which is very similar and just a debilitating as macular degeneration.

That's literally all I've been told. They never mentioned stress or the do's and don'ts of this condition. So far I've looked online and it says eat healthy and stay healthy which I do, I eat clean and exercise 5 times a week because I love it and that's it. I'm not particularly stressed so fingers crossed it will stay stable. Good luck to all on here with their health.

how's your vision now?

Left eye has improved a lot, right eye got better during lockdown probably because of no stress from working 60hrs. Back at work and the right eye has gotten worse again in the last 2 weeks. Gotta take it all your stride even when it sucks!

ok thanks for the reply. Really stress is the big factor that will trigger this disease. It did not affect your work? As for me I am just 3 months running 4 months, diagnose with this condition. So far my right eye sight improve, but still there is oval shaped of gray, somewhat like a tinted car glass, compare before that is totally cloudy. And I also have this flickering on my vision on both eyes after a months of this CSR which added. It's really frustrating to think. Hope all of us will somehow manage to get out from this.

Yes stress is one of the biggest reasons for this condition so anything that reduces stress is a good thing. It doesn't affect my work as its hard and heavy labour. There's so many ups and downs with this condition but we have to try to take it all in our stride. I wish you the best of luck and hope your sight improves👍.

Hi

Jumping in here. Had 7 or 8 episodes of CSR between 2004-2013 in left eye. After the last, the dark circle in vision when covering right eye never went, though only apparent if I covered that eye so not disabling. Also noticed slight waviness to lines in left eye but again only when right eye covered. Mentioned it in routine high street optician eye test, but nothing said like I should get further looked at. 2019 had first bout of CNV in same eye. Wow! Talk about seasick with everything weaving about. That lasted about a month. Thought may have been a one off, but then returned early 2020, though again improved after some weeks without treatment. Then this March back with a vengeance and didn't go. Moorfields aren't sure if related to CSR or macular degeneration. Had first Eyelea injection 3 weeks ago. On 14th day after, noticed big improvement.
