Hello everyone, I have been reading all posts,,, I can't seem to understand yet,,, can someone let me know if I am reading correctly,,, there is really no treatment for chronic CSR? nothing that would actually work? my brother has it on the center of the macula so doctors just tell him to wait,, ,and he seems to be getting worse and worse with more recurring episodes,,, 18 in 5 years... so there is just nothing to do????

Google CSR at Healthline! There seems to be several therapies listed there. They might not be appropriate but someone should at least discuss them with you

Hopefully, it seems to be something that is not really known, no specific treatment, it is very frustrating...

Hi,

I've had chronic CSR in both eyes for the last five years. I'm 49.

My experience is that there are some treatments available but they do not guarantee success. I know that some people have had a positive result from Epleronone (I didn't) and some from PDT (I've had one treatment with some success. It has reduced the fluid slightly but did not repair the damage. The aim is to prevent further damage).

I also know from experience that some NHS Trusts are reluctant to treat CSR if its central (as is mine) whereas others will ONLY treat the central bits. I went four years with no treatment (in Wakefield) and gradually got worse. TBH, they didn't seem bothered. I moved house and the new consultant (in York) is very proactive.

I do think there is a lifestyle element to it. My eyes were worse when I didn't get enough sleep or drink alcohol so I manage this.

I am still pursuing treatment to try to stop further deterioration but I am also making adjustments to my life and trying to accept the limitations. I now work from home, I have lighting which helps in the house etc.

I would urge your brother to push for treatment if he feels he wants this. My view is that it might not work, but I'd rather have tried and failed than not tried it at all.

Good luck x

Thank you Jogie,,, we were hoping since my brother lives in Mexico, that the UK or Spain would be more advanced on this subject and treatment,,, but haven't really found anything,,, I just don't want to just wait and wait for it to get worse,,, please let me know if you find anything that would help, and thank you so much for all your comments above, we can't even find someone with this particular problem in all Mexico, as most people are not chronic and also not in the center of the macula, so treatment here is just not advised, which is crazy, given that it just gets worse every time, we are all pretty stressed about the future as no one seems to be able to give any solution, hopefully a miracle happens or someone has an answer on what to do, at least to save the other eye,,, good luck to you as well and hope to keep in touch with updates from both sides
