After 5 years of injections in both eyes for wet AMD was told yesterday I cant have any more in left eye because of scarring, apparently as fluid cant be stabilised and scarring if they carried on it would cause total blindness, continuing in right eye for foreseeable future x

Kind regards,
Same happened to me mother , weโre told no more injections after scarring, devastated! We werenโt told too much by the ophthalmologist, he just said they canโt do much.. I donโt quite understand what if their fluid accumulated in the her scarring eye ? How would they treat it? Would it affect the eye pressure ?
Oh jjnan, sending you a big hug X I am so sorry you've reached this point. I hope your peripheral vision continues to be OK in that eye and that your other one responds to the inj. Keep your chin up xxx
Hi Jjnan, hoping that you are ok and that things stay stable for a long, long time. Itโs 6 years since I stopped having injections in my first eye, just two years after the first bleed. When the second eye started I was seriously scared that it would be as quick to go. Four years later it is holding on much better than the first eye ever did. Hopefully for you too this will be a blip, but then life as normal. Take care ๐
I am so sorry I, know this is devistating news. It is all very scary. I know that is how it has left me feeling anyway.
Hi JJnan. I'm sorry to hear your news. It must be a scary feeling but hopefully, your left eye may hold on and not become too bad. All the best to you. x
Sorry to hear this. I was told before I got wet macular in my left eye. They said the same thing. My right eye is still holding up so keep your chin up. The worst thing about being blind in one eye is I have lost a lot of depth perception, like pouring milk into my coffee. That can cause a lot of laughs as well as frustration. You will cope as you have had five years to adjust. Good luck and learn to laugh at things that go haywire.
Gosh jjnan, this is certainly news to me. I understood that AMD does not affect your peripheral vision so you don't go totally blind. After a bleed in both eyes at the same time, one bigger than the other, I lost central vision in one eye. The other is badly damaged but I have continued injections in that eye. Now 2 years later, I still have enough sight to be able to read very large print. Not great but better than nothing!
Have you lost central vision in the eye they are discontinuing with injections?
Best wishes and good luck to you.
Central vision not completely black yet but nearly there....I asked how long it would be without treatment and was told could be weeks or couple mths, its started in right eye but I'm hoping inj will keep it at bay for a while yet ...consultant said it's important now that I have inj every 8 weeks...i told him i and many others cant get apps , he said i must insist ....easier said than done !...good luck x
