Hi

I am going into the OR on Nov 1st so my doc can remove some fluid for a special test. When I first started my spec saw swelling and what looked to be an infection but it also looked like Coates disease. He had a conference so to be sure of his diagnosis my case is not straightforward he took my file with him and 4 other specialists said it was coates. So now two yrs of shots and a 3 month steroid implant which worked great followed by the 3 yr steroid implant I now have an area that looks like an infection. Hes put me on antivirals as he thinks its caused by the herpes virus that causes shingles or one that is why u get cold sores. Problem is without a special DNA test of the infected fluid I could be blinded. So now I'm on meds and waiting for this proceedure this Thursday.

Hi Driveninsane72

So sorry to hear of your problem. I do hope it is not Coates' Disease. Is your problem in one eye only? I hope all goes well for you tomorrow. Please let us know how you got on when you feel up to it and when you get your result.

Sending you my very best wishes.

Hi sorry I had not let y'all know how it went. The procedure was not bad and really no pain recovering. Were still not sure what's going on the sample was tested by lab Corp and was neg on both tests but ny doc wasn't sure the results were right so had the director send it to Utah or so we thought finally found out the Utah lab couldn't run it due to partial processing so the 1st lab ran again and neg. Going tomorrow for a new fundus and the other scan I usually get. Good news the swelling was gone. We think the 3 year round implant may be working and he got a bunch of floaters. So next I may end up going to Duke university in Raleigh NC for another opinion for now I'm still on antivirals. I'll update after this next appt
