65 year old, married Caucasian male with AMD. Fifty eyears as a type one, insulin dependent diabetic. Live in NW Florida with my beloved of 45 years. Diabetes has paid toll on my systems, with eyesight problems now, and significant neuro related problems. I have gastro issues secondary to nerve degeneration, neuropathic leg radiating pain problems and of course, the eye problems with macular degeneration. I am retired now three years as a vocational rehabilitation counselor, certified voc evaluator, and TBI/ABI (brain trauma and stroke survivor) specialist. Three adult sons, and two grandsons. Originally found my home in upstate New York, and grew up on Long Island's northeast shore (Suffolk County). I hope to gain insights into my treatment options for AMD . Thank you for the interaction. Hi there thanks so much for your post it was really very interesting.
Firstly It’s not worth putting insulin dependent diabetic as every human being is insulin dependent no human can live without insulin and thus professionals don’t use that term anymore 🙂. Some use insulin deficient now but many just type 1 or type 2 using insulin.
Secondly I am really interested do you know what Diabetic problem you have with your eyes? Is it DMO, or prolifative retinopathy?
Thirdly what eye sight problems does this give you can you still drive, read, recognise faces and are you registered at all.
Lastly will you be getting any treatment at all for either condition?
Thanks for your post
