Patching?

My son has Macular Scar in his right eye, and I was wondering if patching works at all. We have been told it may help a little bit, but I have my doubt on what exactly it would do for the eye. I feel like we are torturing him.

Hello Unspoken,

Do you know how your son's macular scar was caused?

I am afraid that 'patching' is something I have not come across in relation to a macular condition before.

Perhaps other posters have experience of this?

If you want to have a chat with our helpline, please call us on 0300 30 30 111 (9.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday).

Best wishes

I have a macular scar in my left eye as a result of untreated CNV. I asked the specialist if they ever diminish. He asked me what happened with a skin scar. I suggested they faded after years. He didn't leave me feeling too hopeful for my eye.

What is the cause of the scarring in your son's eye? By "patching", do you mean sleeping with a patch over the eye? I don't see this helps scarring, more the natural processes that affect the macula:
