I was diagnosed with dry macular degeneration 2 years ago when I was 69. My optician says it has not deteriorated in the last year. However, I have had rheumatoid and psoriatic arthritis for many years, and after a set back a few months ago I was prescribed loads of new powerful medications - biologics, methotrexate, steroids.

Because my md has not been too problematic and I tend to just get on with life, it only just occurred to me recently that all this medication could have a damaging affect on my eyes. Everything is in my notes, but because there is no mention of medication for md (there isn't any, I take Eyecaps and eat lots of greens) the subject hasn't come up.

Does any kind person out there have any similar experience?

Hi Annie,

We always recommend speaking to your GP about supplements before taking them, particularly if you are on other medication.

Other forum users may be able to give you feedback on the type of drugs you are taking, but the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency) will be able to advise you of any particular side effects of specific drugs; tel [phone].

Hi, I asked my opthamologist this exact question as I take Advair 2x daily for asthma and aspirin. I get injections in my wet eye every 5 months and take the Areds2 vitamins: Doc said since I am getting INJECTIONS for treatment the other stuff will not harm me any further.
