Hello Caddy45,

CNV as you have, is wet macular degeneration . The dry type of age related macular degeneration (AMD) is the deterioration of the retinal cells in the central part of the retina called the macula. They unfortunately die off and are not renewed.

Dry macular degeneration has no treatment or cure, but its progress is usually very slow; measured in years. The macular society have many useful information booklets which give advice on what you can do to help your eyes if you have dry AMD.

Thanks Andy1955 i have cnv and after 4 avastin injections the bleed stoped .3.month s later .today.was told bleed started again and got to have 2more injections .doctor was not botherd .i asked him about idet and vitimans he said dont bother .why Has bleed started again.??

Hi again Caddy,

It would appear that the bleed must have started again as you suspected. Hopefully further injections will help stop it again. I am not surprised at the consultants response about vitamins as the only way to tackle wet AMD is through injections. When your eye has become stable again, it may be worth considering a vitamin supplement.
