Vasculitis

Of course someone will have this but just wondered what symptoms it gives. I have a tingling/pins and needles in my feet but not as sharp a pain as the usual pins and needles.

Dunno if it is the Lupus but most things seem to be....

Vasculitis is inflammation of the blood vessels.

Because vasculitis takes different forms, the symptoms vary from person to person. Many people with vasculitis feel unwell with fever, sweats, fatigue and weight loss.

Other symptoms vary according to which part of the body is affected, for example:

inflammation - not ALWAYS visible as can be internal inflammation

skin – rash of spots that can rupture leaving open sores (ulcers)

lungs – coughing or breathlessness

nerves – tingling (pins and needles) or weakness in the arms and legs

kidneys – problems passing urine or blood in the urine

fingers and toes – can turn white or blue, tingle or hurt when exposed to cold conditions

As u can c, a lot of the symptoms can b attributed 2 other conditions such as Raynauds etc

When I get it, I tend 2 have swelling (but not always) & the spotty rash (fever, sweats, fatigue & breathlessness I get anyway cos of the lupus etc so hard 2 say whether or not I get it with vasculitis, same as the pins & needles, colour changing of digits as get that with the Raynauds & the weakness in arms & legs as get that with the MCT. Could do with having the weight loss occasionally though lol!).

When my vasculitis flares it starts with the awful feeling of being completly drained it comes on quickly as if a tap has been turned on and has drained the tank, I get various rashes from pinprick blood spots to large blood blisters, the larger ones tend to break through the skin and scab over I get them in my mouth too. Night sweats are another indication that things are not right, the feeling that an awful bout of the worst type of flu you could imagine coming on, everything hurts, terrible headaches worse than anything you can imagine, stomach cramps, If it gets really bad I get weight loss too,it all depends on which part of my body is affected at the time, fortunately things are a lot more controlled now than they were. When it first started I lost over 7 stones in 6 months and even steroid didn't stop the weight loss I had awful chest infections and sore throats some of the other problems can be put down to the CTD and raynauds but most can be attributed to the vasculitis. As Sher78 says there is a huge a list of symptoms connected to vasculitis but it is known that people with one autoimmune condition is more likely to get others so it's not impossible to have vasculitis with lupus. The treatment for vasculitis is immune suppressants and steroids, I take 2grams of mycophenolate and 8mg pred along with lots of other meds to keep things manageable.
