Is there a list anywhere of 'good' docs (as decided by patients!) where lupus / sjogrens etc is involved?

Not to my knowledge, I dont know of any such thing here in the UK. You could try asking your local surgery, ask your own gp...Not sure exactly where you're looking..is it hospital or surgerys "docs"? My feeling and experience is that most health professionals do a good job...

It depends where you live, but there are a few hospital based Regional Lupus Centres where the care is second to none. You can ask your GP for referral to one of those and he can then enquire whether your particular Trust will allow and fund your appointment or whether the practice will allow it out of their budget. I went to the London centre from Sussex and it was the very best thing for my diagnosis. However I do receive excellent care from my hospital in the North West as I believe that rheumatologists in general are becoming much more knowledgeable about Lupus generally. There are of course exceptions. GP's are usually generalists but some do have special interests and the only way of finding out is asking your own GP. Many GP practices get together for educational sessions now and it has vastly improved the exchange of information and interests, so he may well know if there is someone in your area. As far as I know no one publishes a specialist list of doctors decided by patients. Good luck.

All I can tell you is my experiences. I first saw Munther Khamashta at the London Lupus Centre (privately) at London Bridge Hospital. I believe, however, that he also consults on NHS, probably at St Thomas'. He regularly publishes in magazines like 'Lupus'. I think he knows his stuff, is caring and thorough. I didn't, however, particularly take to him personally - but that is, of course, entirely personal! If you're male, Cambridge, my slight reservations won't apply.

I'm now seeing Dr Nurhan Sutcliffe on the NHS at Mile End Hospital in London. She allegedly specialises in Lupus and Sjogren's. Fairly new to her and not sure yet how far I trust her. Work in progress. One complaint I do have with her is that she rushes. Our AI brains don't work at full speed at the best of times and she doesn't allow me time to absorb and process what she's saying/asking/suggesting etc. I had to get special permission from my local PCT to be allowed to consult her. Took some time and some pressure from my GP but we got there in the end.
