Hi my lupus doctor is going to put me on either mycophenolate or methotrexate and gave me some information leaflets to read. I just wanted to know if anyone had been on both and had a preference?
mycophenolate or methotrexate : Hi my lupus doctor... - LUPUS UK
mycophenolate or methotrexate

I hated methotrexate, which I took from 2007 to 2012. I like mycophenolate, which did have some side-effects at the beginning, but does not make me feel generally ill and exhausted. I know methotrexate works for lots of people, so I would not want to be too negative about itbut it was no good for me.
The most difficult thing about mycophenolateis having to take it away from food. I usually take one dose at bedtime, and the other mid-morning between breakfast and lunch.
Hi. I've been on both. Methotrexate for over 10 years and then it stopped working. I've been on mycophenolate for about 8 years and found it about the same. Two lupus drugs that I couldn't tolerate were mepacrine and azathioprine. A friend found azathioprine the best. Guess we're all a bit different when it comes to drugs. Good luck!
