I've been on methotrexate for about 10 years. Just recently it has been increased from 20mg to 25mg as my hands had been sore and swollen, to avoid further damage. Methotrexate had helped my disease immeasurably, I had a great deal of pain, constant tiredness. To a point now, where all I notice is hand pain. It has changed the quality of my life.
I hope it had the same positive effect on your symptoms.

How do you manage getting a virus etc? I've also been on methotrexate a long time and it has worked really well but I still have significant symptoms. I tried to go up to 25 from 20 but I just kept getting sick so I've stayed on 20. I still get sick regularly which is frustrating with stopping treatment. I have no kids and work from home. I take all precautions, vaccinations etc. I'm glad it has worked so well for you. I'm just trying to find the right balance.
I feel the same, they cut my dose down to 3 per week. Apparently I am in remission although I know this is not the case as at the moment both shoulder is in severe pain. I give up
Im just starting Methotrexate, its reasurring hearing how well it has worked for you. I hope I have the same experience with it. Ive been on Azathioprine for a few years and it worked great for me, apart from attacking my wcc from time to time. Anyway I had to stop Aza completely as I developed a basal cell skin cancer twice and the Dermatologist said it was directly linked to the Azathioprine! Im hopeful methotrexate will agree okay with me.
