hi all old and new, its been a while but having new symptoms I have a question. I believe ive been through menopause π€·ββοΈ as no period for at least 8 years. I had a sudden stop and that was that. I say believe as hope thats what it was, I have suffered with non food related weight gain but its stayed the same and face of whiskers (age?) for years and always worried of polycystic ovaries but π€·ββοΈ.
Having not had period for years I have recently had low abdomen discomfort and a day of spotting and didnt know if I should be concerned as it just seems strange after so many years and terrible nausea though ive not been sick. With array of other symptoms ongoing its hard to decipher.
thankyou for any insight

Hi lovely. You need to be checked out with bloods to ascertain your hormone levels and an examination to see just what is going on. Please donβt ignore your symptoms. Clearly your body is telling you something is not right.
I had polycystic Ovaries with weight gain and hair on my face. I also had endometriosis and fibroids both of which gave me extremely heavy and painful periods.
Hi Cecily I was so pleased to hear your good news and I hope you are recovering well.
Yes I feared it may need checking out but maybe I will see how it goes for a bit as gp not really an option. I also had endometriosis and fibroids years back and suffered my whole life with heavy and painful periods which is why I was shocked that periods just ended, just had one and never one again π€·ββοΈ
thankyou for replying , I did try to add a reply to one of your posts to cheer you but it didnt work for some reason, with a picture of my new family member a year after losing my boy jag, I have adopted a 2 year old frenchie named Frank, he is a delight and shares some of jags characteristics which is nice π₯°. I read your fur babies were so glad you were home and how you missed them, they are such a huge part of our lives and my home is now filled with love and life of four legged nature and I have another best friend.Ive had him four weeks now and look forward to the years to come.
If your GP is nit an option go to the Sexual Heakth Clinic. Honestly I was 62 before I made my way to the clinic. I suspected corridors full of teenagers wanting the pill or men trying not to look as if they are there for antibiotics lol but in actual fact they were fabulous. I had a smear which my GP failed to do as I have a retracted cervix and the Doctor there noted my Bechets sores and was a mine if info.i would not hesitate to go again if needed.
Please donβt leave it abdominal discomfort could be nothing but it might be something.
Congratulations on your new family member Frank. Dogs are the very best l I prefer mine to most people. My boys give he a reason to get out if bed in the morning. I love them dearly. I look forward to seeing photos of the lovely Frank when you can upload one . I am so delighted for you xxx
Thankyou Cecily yes I didnt think of that, maybe I can do that or maybe there's still a well woman clinic around I shall check.
I am with you there and yes it forces me out and gives me something else to think about and strive for.I will try again soon and see if it works π€·ββοΈπ thankyou I wasn't going to get another but he needed a loving home and I offering that and gaining a friend is a bonus for me, I love him dearly too and its one thing that gets my daughter out of bed easily πππxx
I agree with Megs. I was seen quickly for post menopausal spotting as it can indicate something serious. All was fine but itβs important to get it checked.
Hi stiff 19, post menopausal bleeding however slight is a possible alarm symptom and should be checked out ASAP. Please do go and get advice. Hopefully nothing, but shouldn't be ignored x
thankyou it only lasted a day and has stopped so I dont know wether to wait and see if returns or not, before going anywhere π€·ββοΈ as is not present now except the low abdomen discomfort π
Maybe try going to your practice nurse, I did this and there was a lot of bleeding after the smear she did. She went and saw the doctor and she just referred me to the hospital for tests. Better to be safe.
Morning stiff π€ I agree with all the other replies..it's best to get it checked out at a well woman clinic or maybe a practice nurse. It might be something..it might not..but it's best to sort it out sooner rather than later.Congratulations on your new furry friend πΆπππ¦xx
how are you doing? thankyou Kk , I guess I will have to get checked going on advice from all you lovely people here, especially as since covid and before there has been no call for cervical screening.
ahh he is adorable kk and has a real character ππ₯° its been a year since losing jag and now Frank is a welcome addition and sure will be another love of my life ,we already after 4 weeks have a great bond and his background has left him very anxious bet we are making steps there too. thankyou ππ€πΆπxx
Your reply made me chuckle coz I keep getting reminders that I'm overdue a smear test..the last message was "we are having a drop in for smears tomorrow 6-7pm. Why not come along for a chat if you're unsure" πΉI will get round to it..when it's a bit warmer.I'm so happy to hear you're bonding with Frank. He's settled in well by the sounds of it. Who wouldn't with lovely walks on the beach every day πΉπππ¦xx
You should never ignore any unexplained vaginal bleeding. There is a lot of plumbing that can cause thatβ¦.,so please do contact your GP to get some professional advice.
I fell ill in Nov 22, had three deaths in the family in three month, became much worse. Cancer has not been found after looking up, down , in and through. Summer 23 vaginal spotting started, gyne appt ok, spotting continues, HRT allowed to continue (hurrah) and some symptoms like weight loss, fatigue and new joint pain continue. Subclinical hypothyroidism suggested but not investigated. Spotting continues sporadically but GP not interested after a year of negative tests.
I have discovered diverticulitis may cause spotting ( donβt know how) and I do have this so in light of my GPs disinterest Iβm assuming this the cause in my case, especially as gyne appt was ok. Hope you find an answer soon.
Thankyou stills sorry for your rough time, I just reluctantly called the gp surgery as have ongoing other undiagnosed and untreated issues and they've offered an appointment in a months time. its all very worrying on top of everything else but healthcare seems a thing of the past, but still there's no alternative so I will wait and see. well women clinics here seem distinguished but I will keep looking meantime. best wishes π
You are a fighter it shows and the positive mindset is a strength ππ yes good and bad days but hugely understandable and inspirational.all best wishes π€
my gp is not a good one indeed the healthcare system here or my experience anyway. I have done this and with each symptom told 'strange' bloods ok, dont know where to send you. It's been a haul for years and I have a formal complaint going ahead at the moment and am going to look at getting private appointment now. its knowing where to look as many symptoms but with with one fitting thing I suspect, I am now worried about the spotting and its just been a long road with more symptoms and just more bloods being told ok, when not entirely true or accurate. I say that as had private bloods done for thyroid which doc letter accompanying said subacute and out of range tsh and to see gp . gp tested and said ok and have had other things on gp bloods out of range but told ok.π€·ββοΈ
I wont go on its a long story and journey but a worrying one and I thank you for your reply and advice which sounds like good advice. I hope all went well with your appointment π
much needs to change yes dr change will be on the way I feel. wont go private with this but will need to if get no other answers for other problems. . π€·ββοΈπ€
