Also my groin on both sides fells very inflamed. Does anyone else have this? and any tips to ease it?
I have a band of tight pain around my hip area, I... - LUPUS UK
I have a band of tight pain around my hip area, I think from those muscles which makes me so stiff that it makes it hard to walk.
I had had exactly that but on one side. With me it was due to problems with my hip. An exercise sheet from my GP for my back and hips helped a lot. I had been afraid to move too much because I thought it might increase the pain but it was the opposite - i needed to exercise.
Hope you get it sorted one way or another. I have recently had help from a physio for my knee pain and that has been very very helpful. The only trou.
Feeling for you I've had this too for years. Over the years Yoga, Pilates helped etc helped always a bit to with the soft tissue aspect. But finally I had several facet joint denervation operations by my pain specialist which numbed the lower spine area itself down there.
Also, I've been on an anti inflammation diet and take lots of omegas + high doses of vit d.
But what finally my lupus was diagnosed and what really took the edge off this type of muscle pain (I'm told what they call "girdle" pain is typical of lupus) has been 400 mg of plaquenil since June: began to feel less stiff & sore by sept, and just keep feeling a bit better as more time passes.
To be clearer: from back in the '80s my gps and my pain specialist had been trying me on NSAIDs and heavy pain killers etc for many years, none of which really helped. That's how the denervations came about.
Good luck! take care
Thankyou,
it is hard to know sometimes what is because of the lupus.
I am on plaq too and 2 weeks ago started that same diet so I hope there will be improvement soon.
If not I might go see a phsio and someone mentioned to be about the Boden technique, which I have not investigated yet.
You're totally welcome
Thinking about your ? Over night: for what it's worth, am feeling a bit concerned re the inflammation into your groin area. I definitely also had all kinds of groin pain and stuff, which my osteopath helped clear up in a matter of months via treatment & excercise, but over the year nice my lupus diagnosis, I've learned that swelling etc in the groin is something to mention for sure to the gp and your consultant. There are glands etc own there etc.
Wishing All the best
I had sever hip pain and it turned out to AVN ( avascular necrosis ) of both hips. I had surgery at Duke Universay in America with a special surgery that took my fibulas and inplanted them in to my hip joints. An x-sry and and MRI will help to diagnosis what could be wrong with you.
