I'm wondering if any of you have experience of a small, hard lump on the sole of the foot. Very painful under pressure & to walk on.It has come on spontaneously. This is a repeat of a lump earlier in the year. On that occasion it grew over a period of a few days & just as I was finding the pain on walking intolerable it shrank away to nothing.
I'm wondering if this is related to CTDs. I have an overlap of Lupus & Scleroderma symptoms.
Doubly confusing as I am recovering from surgery to form a new big toe joint on that foot after mine was damaged by osteoarthritis. So I have been walking very little & in soft supportive trainers.

Is the pain towards the ball of the foot, nearing the big toe and the one next to it?? If so, it could be a Mortons neuroma. I had one removed several years ago and I believe they are associated with CTD syndromes. I have been dx'd with EDS, not Lupus.
You have my sympathy as they are painful, especially as you've recently had surgery on your big toe.
Thanks for your reply. No, it's more on the boundary of the ball & front edge of the mid-sole between toe 3&4.
Looking into Morton's neuroma NHS info, it could be. They do seem to sometimes occur between toes 3&4 and they can recur. There are something things to try myself so I'll give it a go.
I guess it depends on how long it's going to hang around & how often it returns. I don't suppose you remember if it got worse over time?I wasn't going to try to see a Dr just yet as they are busy with the heightened concerns over Strep A and it might well have gone before I get an appointment! It's tempting though if it's a simple x-ray. I suppose it only shows when it has swollen as I had a foot x-ray 2 weeks ago to check on the replacement big toe joint. These things never appear at a convenient time do they!
I have a mortons neuroma between 3rd/4th toe. Saw GP. Diagnosed with an mri scan. Saw podiatrist who provided me with an orthotic insert to my shoe - definitely helps. But can now only wear certain shoes, otherwise it gets aggravated. Doctors do sometimes give them a steroid injection to help but I've so far managed to avoid that route. Xx
Thanks hildebeast, I think Morton's neuroma is probably the front runner although between you & me I wish Dr Motion had kept them to himself! Interesting that it was diagnosed by MRI.NHS online advice has some self help things to try first so I've started these.
I had the foot surgery so I could walk again pain free so imagine my delight when something else came along 😡
