Sorry for my gross symptoms but I’ve thought for a few days now that I’ve got a water infection and at the same time a sore throat so I’ve been In bed for a few days as I’m also crippled with fatigue (which is normal for me during a flare) but I don’t have the normal aching limbs and sore hips and fingers which I associate with a flare. Has anyone experienced something similar?
My GP wanted a urine sample and it came back clear so evidently I don’t actually have a water infection. And my sore throat won’t budge. Anyone with any clues?
Thanks loopies!!

Then you got a good sample for the GP to test. Bugs tend to be stronger first thing in the morning because any debris etc has had a chance to collect in the bladder. If it's still hurting to pee but there are no bugs have you considered cystitis? You can get over the counter treatment. I get inflammation in this heat. If it were me I would keep my fluids up, limit caffeine, consider cystitis and return to GP if no improvement. Also I think Lottie made a great suggestion about doing a LFT.
Could you possibly have thrush. I get that quite often at the same time as a flare. My throat feels sore but if I pinpoint the pain it’s more in the top of my mouth.
My CTD flares have been this way for a while - I used to always test for UTI on dip but lab found inflammation not infection. Urology say it’s coming from further up but kidneys are clear on CT urogram so I’m none the wiser.
My hunch is that it is chronic autoimmune pancreatitis in my case with confirmed silent reflux as pancreas would explain the nausea and throat and also the UTI-like issues. I am flaring with this combination less now I’m on a very limited diet. I do have urinary retention so learnt i have to void more often and use a stool to raise my legs so I pee more crouch - like on a squatty potty!
But I also have neurogenic and sclerotic issues and patchy areas of non length dependent neuropathy so maybe it’s this. Anyway I’ve given up trying to work out why my flares are this way now as things usually change/ shift over time with me. But this is just me and you should probably keep testing both ends because sometimes Covid and UTIs can take a while to show up.
Note my diagnosis is Stills Disease which manifests as RD for me .Flares always start with a sore throat and burning when I pee.
I have lichen sclerosis which flares in unison which causes the burning.
My skin rash aggravates when I flare too so it’s one in all in I think 😏
Hi, I've had the same problem 3 times. Ended up in A&E the last time as I was urinating blood, being sick and felt faint. Hospital said my inflammatory markers were within normal range. Had protein in urine. Treated with antibiotics. I saw my gp after. Told her the only other symptom is a sore throat, had it for 6 weeks. She referred me to a 2 week cancer pathway. Within days I was at that appointment, camera down nose and throat. Diagnosis sjorgrens. Throat like sandpaper with legions. Said tgat urinary tract will be dry too causing friction.
He was writing to rheumatologist, I'm waiting for my next appointment with her.
Of course this may not be the same for you but was struck by the similarities . X
Thanks so much for your lengthy reply. Shocked and saddened that you’ve suffered like that. Will make an appointment with GP. She already prescribed me an antibiotic for what she thought was an UTI but the dip came back normal… my throat is a bit better now but still sore… and it still burns when I pee so I’ll consider both the thrush issue and this issue equally. Thanks all for your kindness and helpfulness! Xx
I treated my similar burn as thrush for years until the menopause meant the pessary wouldn’t dissolve anymore cactus 🌵 😝 Then started HRT patches and had gyne appointment which resulted in discovery of Lichen Sclerosis I referenced in my earlier reply.Hope you have received good treatment by now?
