Anemia and Different Blood Test Results Help

I have been taking iron for anemia for some time. My latest CBC had some different test results on it. I researched and they relate to different shapes of red blood cells. I just wonder if they mean anything as relating to the anemia. Here are the findings -

Anisocytosis1+

Polychromasia1+

Hypochromia1+

Poikilocytes2+

Schistocytes1+

Burr Cells2+

Target Cells1+

Tear Drop Cells1+

Thanks for any help.

Healing hugs.

Some of these are related to iron deficiency anemia. But burr cells, tear drops, schistocytes are not common. I hope this was ordered by a hematologist. More needs to be done and looked into with this smear result.

Hope this helps. Sending hugs. ❤️xx

Thank you so much for your help. This was from my regular doctor and i will be seeing him soon and will see what he says. I see the rheumatologist this week and don't know whether to share this with him or not. He seems to just be concerned with what he is interested in. Dealing with doctors these days is so frustrating.

Healing hugs.

Pumpkin, I’m in the same boat. My eyes are getting worse and I’ve been shuffled off to another optho by my new neuro-optho. No one can tell me if it’s autoimmune or neuro degenerative. And rheum doesn’t want anything to do with it even though lupus could 100% be doing this. So frustrating.

As former heme, I am saying with confidence that you need to see hematology. Ask for referral and don’t leave until you get one.
