Hi

Some years ago I suffered with vertigo, the onset was very sudden and left me feeling awful. When I saw my GP he prescribed betahistine, which I took for a couple of weeks, it didn’t clear the vertigo straight away and I was advised to do head exercises. After some time the vertigo gradually got better and now I have no problems with it apart from tinnitus. The main thing is to see your GP as there are different types of vertigo ( dizziness), and your GP will hopefully diagnose what type of vertigo you have. I hope you recover soon.

PS, the head exercise is called Brandt-Daroff.

Hi Chris_O thank you for your advise it got so bad that I had to have the paramedics they contacted my gp who prescribed medication. Its still pretty bad , I had it 2 years ago and was told that I had vestibular ocular. I did the head exercises then but unfortunately temporarily lost my memory. Not a pleased experience.

You should see your doctor. I was able to treat mine with this maneuver.

Any repeated vertigo needs to be evaluated by a doctor. They can prescribe pills to help you

It takes several days. It will pass if it is only a simple vertigo.
