Fine crackles

Hi lovely people

Follow up letter from rheumatologist said I needed CT of Chest as he could hear fine crackles . Never heard of this before and wondered if anyone could put it into context with regards to mixed connective tissue disease ?

Morning Tiggywoos..I too have crackles ... wheezing and creaking noises on left hand side of chest ... 😖my Grandson says I sound “ as if I’ve swallowed a 🐭 mouse !! However, my chest X-ray was clear.. and Doc decided It didn’t warrant antibiotics... just come off steroids completely after 2 years 😫so feeling rough anyway .. makes me very breathless and mucousy... forever clearing my throat with an annoying cough 😷 hope this helps.. have a good day

Hi again.. well I didn’t have any 🫁 lung issues till I was diagnosed with wretched lupus!! 😫.. the steroids helped a lot I now realise... and I’ve been congratulating myself for coming through all the horrid withdrawal symptoms !! Got a telephone dermatologist call next month so fingers crossed 🤞 no flare before then !!

To add to my previous reply.. if anyone else on here “ sounds like the e swallowed a 🐭 mouse” please do let me know what your Doc did about it ? If anything? Thanks 🙏

I have lung issues after pleurisy in both lungs and 6 bouts of pneumonia in 5 years which later turned out to be a major lupus flare they refused to acknowledge.as a result i have bronchiectasis so I'm very familiar with crackles and railes.im prescribed a prophylactic antibiotic 3 times a week and carbocisteine to keep my lungs clear .I'm still on prednisolone.lupus is known to affect the lungs (pulmonary lupus) and strange to say I've had fewer problems since being on my lupus meds ! X

Thank you so much that’s helpful and informative 🤓. Blimey 6 bouts of pneumonia must of been blooming awful . So glad you’ve had fewer problems since been on lupus meds xxx

All were hospital admissions i also had right base atelectasis ( lung collapse) but you know how to goes...it was in my head...still haven't worked out how I can imagine pneumonia lol.anyway I refused to see respiratory at my local hospital and now travel to preston.Crackles are caused by excess fluid.

Think I'm abit of extreme case but that's what ignoring me for 5 years did 😡 I've also had a larnyxoscopy recently which showed my voice box is hypersensitive so with a quick sniff and 2 quick blows out through the pursed lips you can also help coughs x
