The only difference between mycophenolate mofetil and mycophenolate acid is the way they are absorbed. mycophenolate mofetil is absorbed has to be metabolized and is absorbed through the stomach. Mycophenolate acid is coated to delay release and is absorbed through the small intestine.
I being taking mycophenolate mofetil for lupus for 18 months.sufffered with side effects for the first 6 weeks or so ... nausea ,violent headaches and my hair has gone curly . Good luck xx
This information is most welcome , thank you , I have read some of it from the leaflet inside the box , there is nothing to say it’s to treat SLE and RA . I’m waiting fir a return call from Rheumatology, hopefully tomorrow .
I have not started taking it yet , has Biologics were discussed has most suitable , but cannot be prescribed to me yet , due to interfering with my B cells and possibility of eradicating my proactive covid vaccine .
All too much for me .
Struggling at the moment ..
I think if I would have been given the covid vaccine as per guide lines , I wouldn’t be in the situation I’m in with not been able to start the right treatment for me .
Good info from Spanielmadlady. Do stick with it though as at first (from my experience ) you may feel sick for a few weeks but it’s worth it as is a useful medication but make sure you go for blood tests at least very 3 months. Take care
