I've been told that I can't have any vaccines that are live vaccines. Can we have the covid vaccine. Is it safe for someone with lupus to have. Is there a certain vaccine we should be having
Covid vaccine. : I've been told that I can't have... - LUPUS UK
Covid vaccine.
The last info published by Paul after a meeting with health professionals says we can have the vaccine as it is not a live vaccine however we must continue to stick to restrictions and guidelines as they do not know what kind of immune response those of us who are immunocompromised will produce.by time they get round to us other vaccines may suit us better...who knows.
All the info is in the covid info link at the top of the lupus home page
The Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is not live. As far as I know none of the vaccines at the later stages of testing are live. It woud be quite a risky venture to make a mass vaccine that did have live virus when there is no really effective treatment.
In fact, the mRNA vaccines don't even have dead virus in them - it is a synthetic copy of a small part of the vaccine, the spike bit, which allows the immune system to recognise the special buttons on the coat for the next time it sees someone in a very similar but not necessarily identical coat with those distinctive buttons and gives it a head start on putting the handcuffs on
I'm pretty sure someone on this forum has posted to say they have had the vaccine already.
No data on trials in autoimmunity available, it's a case of risk-benefit ie those on immunosuppressants are better off having the jab it's said.. xxx
It is not a live vaccine do we can have it safely.
