Pain after eating on the right side and radiating to shoulder is typical of a gallbladder issue.

Have you had an ultra sound of your gallbladder after being starved and have you tried a low fat diet?

It definitely sounds like gallstones doesn't it and could have been me when I had them.

I think mine were missed for quite a while because of previous diagnosis of possible kidney stones and IBS as that was what they were concentrated on. It was paramedics suggestion of gallstones that they finally looked at the gallbladder.

I think it's one of the problems of being complicated 😸, they have to much information overload (all our symptoms) and forget the basics. But we're just as bad and tend to blame things on what we already have and think "oh it must be the....".

thank you Boudica1 everyone thinks it is gallstones even I would but I do not have a gallbladder the pain is the same as gallstones and pancreatitis but all my bloods are negative

Sorry I didn't realise that your gallbladder has been removed. Can I ask if the pain gets to the stomach, in the middle between the two sides of the ribs? After I had my gallbladder removed I kept getting similar symptoms to gallstones and bad stomach pain and vomiting. Had to have the camera down to the stomach and it turned out that I have Bile Reflux Gastritis. I don't have the usual symptoms of reflux as it's the silent type but certain types of food would trigger symptoms and I sometimes have a problem with swallowing which is why GP sent me for the camera.

Apparently Bile Reflux Gastritis can happen after the gallbladder is removed but I hadn't realised or missed that bit of information.

I really hope you get this sorted out soon.

Take care.

Hi, I would say it sounds like gallbladder too. Bear in mind that it could be sluggish bile producing sludge, not necessarily stones. As far as I know, both Lupus and Sjogren's can affect bile ducts and gall bladder and these are so often also thyroid linked, which can slow metabolism and cause similar effects. The other slight possibility that I can think of is abdominal angina, due to lack of blood flow/microclots/neuropathy - and again there are links to Antiphospholipid antibody syndrome and Small Fibre Neuropathy with your other two named conditions. Best to get gallbladder checked, but don't assume surgery is your only option. Many resolve/get relief with diet and supplements (gluten, dairy, alcohol free to begin.). Best wishes

thank you bookish will keep some of your suggestions in mind I know I know I do not have antiphosphiliped syndrome I have to wait for my scan and there results in a few weeks and for now grit my teeth!

I hadn't realised that you had already had gallbladder removed. Bile can still cause issues, and bile reflux is common after removal, I believe. Interesting about the possible nerve damage - could be Vagus nerve. With all your other mentioned conditions, I do hope someone has already checked you properly for Coeliac but would suggest a gluten free trial at least (preferably grain free) even if it is negative, as testing is not reliable. Best wishes

Sounds like your gallbladder, especially if its after spicy, fatty food. I would go back to your doctor or see another doctor and ask for some test to see if it is this.

thank you kane0102 for your reply I don't eat spicy foods have excess acid oa a lot of tablets for my stomach having sjogrens I drink a lot when I eat anld have trouble getting food down but this is different ultrasound negative awaiting MRI scan but this could be at least another month consultant thinks it could possibly linked to a fractured vertabrae in my back causing root nerve damage

Really does sound like gallbladder. I felt as though I could be having a heart attack. Tightening under bust and radiating around to back. Very painful. Had it removed in outpatient procedure. Hope you can get it treated xx

Had my gallbadder removed four years ago and also had pancreatitis a month later for stones left in the bile duct there is nothing I can do but wait for my scan thank you for giving your thoughts to my problem
