300mg Hydroxychloroquine Tablets - Now Available in UK

Hi everyone,

Blackrock Pharmaceuticals has launched a 300mg strength hydroxychloroquine tablet which is now available for prescription in the UK.

Hydroxychloroquine has previously only been available as 200mg tablets. We are aware that some people currently prescribed a dose of 300mg are taking different amounts on alternate days or having to cut tablets to take the correct dose. We hope this tablet can improve their experience.

Hi, thx for the info, I don’t know what’s going on with mine, my GP said to stay at 200mg twice daily, bt the hospital said (telephone consultation), 300mg twice daily would suite me. So thank you

Thanks Paul. Must admit it made me giggle a bit because I was on 300 for a long time and have been reduced to 200 just recently. Typical 😂 This is great news though for those who do take 300, such a pain trying to cut the tablets in half and they’d break into 3 pieces instead of 2! Is it just me who had this issue lol, anyone else?

This is very good news!! I'm on 300mgs a day n I take 400mgs one day n then 200mgs the next..I have to go through the calender n put ticks on my 400mgs days so that hubby can keep track!! 🤦

My pharmacy has been giving me Bristol brand which tastes disgusting but I have had BlackRock hydroxy in the past n tolerate it well..so here's hoping I get some of these BlackRock 300mgs next time I get my prescription!!

I found it to have a very nasty aftertaste .

It makes me gip. I think a lot of other patients have forms the same with this brand .

Sounds great I’ve just had my dose increased today and told to take 400mg one day and 200mg the next and to continue like that. 300mg will be much better if I can get hold of that.

Thank you Paul. This is great news for many. However I fear it will direct doctors to prescribe this brand and it will be difficult to communicate our need if we are unable to tolorate Blackrock. My daughter is in this category. We agreed for her to take 300mg, zentiva only with her consultant but i am almost certain, our GP or the chemist will give this brand seeing 300mg on prescription. More heartache, more confusion for some of us.

I certainly hope that doesn't happen. It would be best for patients if the other manufacturers could follow suit and also make 300mg tablets. Please let me know if your daughter does have trouble.
